I touched on this in a previous thread too. Don't like this current set-up. Seems a waste. I spend all these turns researching and get one gold mine. Then I spend more turns researching and I get one apiary and one other food source. Every. Single. Time. These techs need to expose these resources all over the map as you explore them, not just once, and not just in your influence.

From what I can tell, researching Lost Bounty will randomly place exactly one beehive and one orchard somewhere in your influence, Secrets of the Nemesis will spawn exactly one crystal mine somewhere in your influence, etc.  In my first game I researched all of them early assuming it would help me place my cities better, but all that happened is that my lone capital wound up with resources on practically every tile while the rest of the map stayed the same.

Weird, I've had many random things pop up from these.  From multiple Twilight Bees or Gold Mines to any other number of resources.  No discernable pattern at all.  Sometimes I get crap.  Some games I get awesome.

Oh I get stuff. but it's only in my area of influence. The purpose of my original post is to find out whether or not researching this technology is supposed to reveal it in the world to your faction as in the description or not. If it is supposed to reveal it worldwide and it isn't, then we have a bug. If not, Stardock has VERY bad writers.

Since everyone is complaining about resources only spawning in their influence they should change it so instead it spawns only in other's area of control! That way the resources you research are stolen by the AI and you don't get the chance to build on it. 

Could be problematic - what if someone builds a city on a square with a mine they can't see?

How about this for a solution:

If a player hasn't done sufficient research to see a resource which another player can see, he can simply build ontop of it (a city square) and it will be like the resource was never there. As a result, the resource tile will simple be removed. It is the loss of that player due to not having sufficient technology in that area. It is also the loss of any player who can see it for not securing the tile before another player could.

Once again the purpose of my post was to question whether or not researching this tech is supposed to reveal these resources worldiwde or not as described  by the research narrative. If it supposed to as described then this is a bug. If not it's bad descriptive writing.

Personally, I don't care if it only reveals resources in my influence. However, I do want clarification, if this is the case. That way I can choose not to research these techs until I have several cities where these resources can spawn. As it stands right now, you can research Lost Bounty quite quickly but if you you only have 1 or 2 towns at the time, you won't find much, which makes researching this tech early a waste.

Place your first two cities so that one of them get food tile and the other get gold tile.

Research first tech immediatly so that new gold mine spawned in the second city (reload game if needed). Research second tech BEFORE your influence spread too much, and make those two food tiles spawn at your first city.

Voila, you now have a city with 2 gold mines and another city with 3 food tiles. Specialize them.
