Blue Screen, followed by damaged code or GPU issue

Okay, first my stats (which have to come from memory because the computer in question is not working.)

Intel quad core 2.66 GHz

Nvidia 9800 GT

Windows Vista (yes I know)

Basically here is the issue.

Playing the game, decide to start a new game. But due to the fact that the game is still going one when you open up the menu, something graphically go corrupted. Screen started flashing black and white, and when it wasn't I got red pixels mixed with the image, then it went to Blue Screen of Death.

Quickly restarted, but I'm now suffering from either Nvidia driver issue, or my graphics card was ruined by the game. Basically I've got a limited amount of time during start up to try and trouble shoot before the screen goes screwy (blue pixels on the home screen) and it starts freezing and I'm forced to manual reboot. I'm really shocked at how buggy this game is.

An application can't generally cause a BSOD in modern versions of windows, only expose existing driver/hardware issues. If you're seeing artifacts, that probably means overheating or impending GPU failure.

Well, i've updated the drivers, so I'm keeping an eye on things right now.

As for overheating or impending failure. NOOOOOooooo. What I'm wondering is the kind of strain maintaining multiple parts of the game might have on the computer. In this case, Since going to the menu, and even starting a new game, doesn't apparently clear the old game that was being played.

To make sure everything is alright, I'm trying StarCraft II. If anything will show a problem in terms of graphics or overheating, that will be it.

Well, got a second Blue Screen playing Star Craft. So it must be the graphics card. This stinks, but now I'm less likely to blame the game. But I think I will hold off on playing it until after it becomes more stable.
