Same here.   Have Alienware Intel Core i7 920 2.66 quad core, 1gb nvidiageforce gts 240, 6 gb triple channel 2333 mhz ddr3.

I went to impulse and just self identified that the game was on my system and then registered it to get the update. You can also launch the .exe file yourself instead of having a shortcut.

Will tell you guys if it works after I finish downloading the update

Edit: it works. I now can play the game. Don't know about the rest of the issues everyone is dealing with, but you can atleast get started

Same problem here. Installation finishes, then another screen and loading bar that says 'windows installer' pops up, after a few seconds a pop up that just says 'error' comes up and clicking ok yields the message from the first post. The game is actually installed and appears to work, but it is obviously missing some registry entries as it is not listed in the add/remove programs in the control panel. After trying twice, I just manually pointed Impulse to the location and registered it.

What worked for me was to go to my installation folder (mine was C:\programs Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental) and click on the Elemental.exe file to start it.  Game started right up with no problems, got the update and everything has been running smoothly so far.'

The game was in my program files folder and just needed to be started via that route
