I still have a point. Brad saying preorders and beta testers getting it early is the "privilege" part. Release date is 24th, that hasn't changed.
Just because you call it privilege does not make it any different. People have pre-ordered to get this privilege, thus it is their privilege and they are understandably upset when the promise was not fulfilled. (though it is time only for beta testers)
Release date = promise that everyone should be able to play game on particular date.
Pre-reliease for preorders and beta testers = promise that beta testers and pre-orders will be able to play on another earlier date.
I do not see much difference, no matter how you call it, privilege or not. People paid money for the game, people were promised to be delivered on particular date, the promise is not fulfilled, people are upset. I do not see any contradictions here.
Did you order the game thinking it would come out on the 22nd? I don't think anyone really knew that until within the past day or so. If you made your purchase with the original date of the 24th in mind (or possibly the 23rd), that time has not yet arrived. Your promise-at-purchase has been kept.
If you are truly dissatisfied, don't buy the likely add-ons or future products. If EWoM is anywhere as good as GalCiv2, we are already getting a great product with amazing product support through patches that address technical and gameply issues.
Really, Stardock's gang seems to be the most dedicated in the business. If there is anyone worth grousing about, it's not them.
