There was a soft "bump" sound in the middle of the battle, then the screen froze till I blew it off and there was an error message underneath.
System event viewer said "Application popup: Elemental: War of Magic 0.90 Fri Jul 16 00:04:51 2010: Elemental.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x015a61ab."
