All white screen upon entering game and processor fan goes crazy

Hi,

After I get through world creation, all I see is a white screen with a couple of UI elements visible.  At the same time, my processor fan goes crazy which is a sure sign the process is overheating.

any thoughts?

I know having that 'advanced lighting' (or whatever it is) selected under options will cause a white screen.  This doesn't sound like the same thing, however, as it didn't make my fan go crazy at all.

Can you post your system specs from the top of your my games/elemental/debug.err file?  That sounds like you dont have a shader 2 compatable card....

Usually the white screen can be fixed by disabling antialiasing, give that a shot.

I at least don't have one and also run on the "white screen", one time like he aftre world creation (on my laptop) another time just when hitting play from the small game menu...

So before i go running around, organizing an dxdiag and what not - will I be able to play without a shader 2.0 graphic card?
