Immediately after founding my first city, and getting the tutorial welcome from (I think) Janusk, I got the diplomacy dialog from one of the AI opponents greeting and warning me.  I'm now at this point, with Janusk in view but no sign of any opponent:

If I click on Janusk to try to hire him, I get the diplomacy window with an AI opponent, as if, perhaps, Janusk was already hired by the AI?  But he doesn't show in their color.

I've had zero luck loading saved games in .805, but in case it helps, here it is.
