If you said windows was at fault here I'd believe you, but in Windows 7 you can have multiple library locations for your My Documents folder. I have one on the local drive and one on a networked file server. The file server is set to be the default save location, which is where I'd expect Elemental to save it's data, however it saved it's data in my local My Documents folder.
