[Crash] Avast Antivirus

So I was one of the people who could not launch game up till now as I would crash at splash screen.

I updated today and still crashed at splash screen (or hung there which is new).  I did all the normal things, uninstalled, redid drivers etc.

I happened (unrelated to Elemental) to turn off my antivirus program Avast.  Seems I am then able to launch.  I tested this about 10 times back and forth so I do believe it is more than coincidence.  (Unfortunately, once launched, things don't look right as the interface is missing buttons and is distorted.  Not really playable.  But one issue at a time I suppose ...)

Anyone else experience issues with antivirus?

I'm running avast currently as well, and just tried it. It crashed on the first go round, not good. However on my 3 subsequent attempts it has been fine.

I did have a hang problem with Zone Alarm, but windowing Elemental fixed the problem since i could then "allow"

I run Avast and haven't had any problems with startup, but I do have occasional random freezeups while playing. It just happened again, and a few moments after I killed the program, Avast popped up a message saying that it had just downloaded an update. Maybe Avast's update utility is causing problems with the game.
