How do you find city that has nothing to do? hotkey? icon on UI?
Color of the city in the empire tree?
6 - Spell learning is not intuitive, I cannot figure out how it works and I don't want to read up on that. UI should make that obvious.
What isn't intuitive in opening spellbook and clicking on available spells to put them in the research queue? I have experienced a CTD when clicking on next turn or when moving my sovereign. I am not very sure since I wasn't expecting any CTD. here is the dump http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/beta3_ctd/Elemental0_805-2010-07-02T16-54-34-312.zip
Waves hand...re: threshold for tactical battles. Sorry for the big and bold, I think this is important. The thresholds either need to be adjustable during the game, or they need to be able to be set as a percentage of total units, not a set number.
There is already an option for that, and it doesn't require a restart when changed.
The point of this post was just to ask for ai focus to be a priority.
If you have played GC2:TotA, you wouldn't ask this question as the main AI programmer on GC2 is Frogboy, aka Brad Wardell, CEO and the sole owner of Stardock. And he is also doing the AI for Elemental ands very proud to have the AI playing with the same rules than human player (ie AI that don't cheat until very difficult level) BTW, If find really strange to state
Honestly I haven'

Sadly, you can't really fight Steam using their tactics: they have an important lead. You really need another ground for the battle.
Honestly I haven't found a strategy game yet that is able to have a good ai and a reasonably complicated game
Have you played GC2: Twilight of the Arnor?
Now they have two options. A: They can pretend that their is no Steamworks, their are no Steamworks games and try to hide the biggest games of the year from their customers. Or option B: Sell the games and try to compete with Steam by offering lower prices.
You don't see the bigger picture: - Developpers/publishers use Steamworks since there isn't any competiting product for handling multiplayer in other offered pictures - Steamworks requires to be bundl

I guess it was the King/Queen married by the ennemy sovereign. As it has a combat rating of 0, they don't participate in combat with defending units with a combat rating
Stats should be integers.
Why? What is the difference of having a value of 4.49 on a scale from 0 to 20 with having a value of 449 on a scale of 0 to 2000? BTW, if stats are integers with the current scale, I see lots of people complaining that stats don't move when adding increment from levelling or items. There where lots of people complaining in beta 2A that movement stats wasn't increasing when it should be. The real fact was that all movements below 2.0 wa
Surely its not ready for that release day...... I'd say its about 50% there!
Well, the current build for beta is 0.804. And Frogboy has stated previously that this number was linked with the readiness of the build. So you can expect that the current beta build is 80% ready. We will see what nulber will be available when we get beta 3 (with Empire and tactical combat) and beta 4 (modding tools)
And for Steam too since Brad has stated numerous times that Steam take at least 30% of the sales.
After rereading some Brad's posts, Steam take 30% + a cut. I am wondering what is Steam's cut on those massively reducted prices.
More money than they had before;
For publisher at least. And for Steam too since Brad has stated numerous times that Steam take at least 30% of the sales. And remember than generally, it is publisher and not devs that get the money.
Soverign DEATH avoidance should be loss of 1 Essence AND loss of ONE LEVEL (and the respective increase in one of the Sovereign's characteristics).
are you sure it is increase? Having to loss 1 essence and one level (with an associated characteristic) is more harsh than the current setup. I would prefer the loss of 1 essence and one level (with a possible level 0 to gain easily XP). That way you will have an easier way to regain essence than the current setup, e
Just for starters, a 40% smaller file.
Is the size of the data file really important? You could also reduce the size of the XML file with short name and no indentation. What is really important is the use of those data in the game, and generally, the data in the XML files are loaded at the start of the game and converted in a usable form to be accessed fastly when needed.
