But most discoveries were by accident. Like Frogboy says, no-one researched knights as a goal. Most inventions come out from a general goal/direction in which they use a collective of now how to see what they come up with to fulfill that goal. I like the SMAC style. It felt a lot more natural. The choice becomes in what direction you want to send your faction. Military, magic or whatever other styles Elemental will offer. It isn't exactly luck either. When you pick a goal, the

And even if they did rush a project, launching it before schedule, it would have loads of problems! So maybe allow rushed but give the unit penalties. Of course, that probably is something to suggest in GalCiv, not here where units are people, not machines. Although rushing a unit of swordsmen leaves only 60% of your units actually equipped with swords! Or only 40% have all the designated armour! It might be worth having a slightly weakened unit when you're in a t

I would love more E. I think GC missed a chance to make the E of space interesting and worth playing in. It should be easier in a fantasy game, so defo.

Maybe like Civ 2's! It was really enjoyable and easy to make some simple events thanks to the editor. I've not tried making an event with Civ4 but that would have to go into notepad or something?

Like EU and KoDP, maybe you can just start off with giving us something that reads like a timeline, with varied 'fluff' text to describe a typical event. Then work towards your 1 million monkeys with 1 million typewriters thing. While this, for example, isn't exactly a flowing story worth releasing as a novel, it still manages to GIVE a story. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/p.calay/badend.txt

I would expect independants and stuff. Maybe sort of like 'minor' factions too!

Yeah. I hate the rigid structure. Of course, apparently it was to make it easier for AI. Maybe, give AI strict progression but give the freer one to players? Also, I would like the high end to be steampunky! Airships!

Will we designing them on a paper doll? Skirts and pretty make up! Perhaps it's my Saints Row and Fable gaming but an army of cross-dressing swordsmen is surely going to give +morale or something.

The story doesn't have to be randomly generated. Just needs you to meet the right triggers to get the next story events/block of text/change in whatever/something spawned. Like in Civ, you can push a story through with events that will play out at a different pace with each player, some may even experience the story in a slightly different way. Depends how consistent the story wants to be. Can have it tightly scripted with little variation.

We can choose the shape of our cities, determing where they expand into. That's nice but it will get a bit dull if each city tile looks and is the same. What different tiles to grow your city would you like? Some I have thoughts of: I am assuming a 'city building'(if we build them) won't take up an entire tile or they will complement a tile type, instead. A rural tile - Essentially large tracts of farmland. They provide big + to food or whatever stat

Sounds cool. Providing the combat stats weren't so rigid as GalCiv. With the laser vs shield and missile vs PD etc. Hopefully it won't be sword vs armour type A and bow vs something crazy else.

But GalCiv2 and Sins' digital only managed to stay at $44 with +boxed going at $49. Have the stores really made you put on that extra $4?

I think it would be weird if there wasn't an option to have auto-pause after each 'turn' or 'round' whatever it is being called.

If you do something cool like fall off the edge, then the flat will help fit the fantasy! Maybe we'll get to see some elephants on the way down into darkness!

Events are a must. Take King of Dragon Pass example. That is almost a game entirely driven by events. Of course, not saying do that here but lots of events help add flavour to the game and can really help show off the lore of the game. This is just one example of the events that King of Dragon Pass dishes out that end up as a chronicle for your tribe. Some are funny! http://hom

Yes, defo. Having an epic game story from Civ that lasted years is just insanely awesome. Each decision requiring real calculation!
