I think what has me concerned (more than the general thing I mentioned in the OP) is noticing a discussion on damage types where Brad typed "Sorry it is actually called lightning in the game. Not sure what I was thinking" in response to an argument about what "electrical damage" might m

I don't have historical population info handy, but I wouldn't be that surprised to find out that MLK's leadership reached even more people than Luther's did, at least during the latter's

Rumours have suggested that this project will be the first Stardock game where editorial content gets a serious budget investment and will be worked throughout the project rather than spackled on at the end after the mechanics and UI are largely finished. I found that notion quite attractive, but so far I've not seen much on the boards or in the builds to indicate that the rumour is actually true. Now that the major sections of beta are rolling out, the boards are more full than ever

Already got two major sepia tones with land and water, a third one could make things messy...

Ten Thousand Huzzahs for the weaknesses! (the concept, not the specifics) Putting history, talents, and weaknesses together in different ways looks like it might be able to yield vast tracts of replayability, almost like the soverign is a 'second map' with swell customization options.

I'd rather see no succession system at all than see every faction always following exactly the same practices. That would render what seems like a swell idea for a worthy subgame into a bunch of boring clickwork, at least after one had settled on a standard dynastic strategy. I don

GalCiv2 eventually gained a launch-direction functionality so you could choose which square a ship would appear on when it left planetary orbit. Hopefully, the plan for Elemental includes something similar for units stationed in keeps. (Getting rid of the 'free move problem' would be nice, too.)

Living buildings might be a nice complement to the old idea of making a keep or town out of a dead giant's body. Wish I could remember the thread title, there were some funky ideas there...

Wonky all around, seems like. I just noticed that the Capitar (the sovereign walking over capital) thought they were at war with me, although the UI didn't let me know that until I randomly decided to see how the new diplo stuff looks. You'd think folks calling themselves sovereigns would have the manners to let a person know when a war is on...

Sounds very interesting to me, but the current design direction seems to be very minimalist re roads. Still, it would be nice to have at least two types of travel paths, roads as they currently are and highways that do things along the lines you describe. Could 'keep it simpler' by making the current basic roads more or less automatic/organic and making highways a bit cheaper to build if you start with an existing 'natural' road.

No, but I hate the fact that we're suffering in a mess of pseudo-standards thanks to the dumbass 'browser wars.' Don't you hate it when you think you've got a build ready for distribution, but it turns out it ain't quite ready?

CapnWinky started a neat thread on Orthanc (from the Lord of the Rings) last summer, and Kyogre brought essence into the discussion. I'm sure a bunch of us are very interested in ways to invest essence other than just founding a town or enhancing a champion. [quote]...Unique buildings could allow you to specialise. The OP reminds me of the older discussions about Independent Kingdoms/Powers and how they might connect to the questing system. The devs are apparently planning to work on backstory steadily rather than leaving it until the final polishing stages before RTM, so they should have plenty of opportunities to build in entities and/or quests that could do something along the lines of Prospe

Very glad to hear that the city building UI will not stay so much like a console game; I'd be happy to give up half the screen to a well-detailed improvement list that I could just read instead of mousing all around for pop-ups.
