I disagree. For a start, Age of Wonders I had an identical mechanic only it was called 'underground' and not another dimension. Age of Wonders II - Shadow Magic had an alternate plane as well. There were official Civilisation mods with similar mechanics too.
Are you objecting because you worry about lawsuit issues or because you don't like the idea of game magic involving plane shifts o
They have some exclusive details on the multiplayer aspects coming up that include both the on-line skirmish mode as well as the persistent world games in which the Impulse cloud hosts games.
It still doesn't look like they're doing the best job of *sharing* those details...
I know that anything close to the dark side/light side way the MoM map worked would probably make the lawyers balk. But there are many different magical approaches to the parallel worlds thing. Perhaps just an astral or ethereal plane that was mostly empty until certain magical structures get built in the material world or a spell-caster banishes someone or something? Maybe even a set of planes themed after the five schools? Sort of "where the stuff comes from" only you could go there
Sammual's list looks good to me also.
Elsewhere, Mormegil said:
Life and Death Magic are drawn from the same source in Elemental, but how they are used, and what spells are available to you are determined by your sovereign nature. If you are "Good" you get Life magic spells, if you are "evil" you get death magic spells.
First, I just have to channel my inner toddler and want more, more, more, now, now, now. My immediate practical question is where are the neutrals? From my aesthetic biases,

I bookmarked this new forum immediately, but I can't pre-order until they do something to let me spend my TGN tokens. This spring could see the end of my posting GalCiv games to the Metaverse, or at least slow me down a lot. Good thing I theoretically don't care about my rank on the AltMeta...
Thanks, Kryo. I should have known my usual loose grip on numbers was working. Where should I watch for word that the pre-order via tokens is available?
Can someone help me refresh my sketchy memory about the last price of a tokent 10-pack? Somehow I have this sloppy notion that a $50 game should cost 5 tokens, not 6.
I doubt there are many, and maybe I'm the only one, but I have 7 tokens in the bank and I'd like to know how to spend them to pre-order. I know Impulse doesn't work with them, but I can't seem to find what I vaguely remember as the TGN "store" any more.
Will we get some internal testing stories soon? I'd love to see one of your game reports on this new puppy.
