Obviously they make the AI sentient. In preparation for the coming Rise of the Computer Empire. Stardock doesn't actually exist, it's just a bunch of computer AI plotting our destruction. Seriously, though...there are levels higher than Masochistic? I didn't know that...maybe they're remnants and haven't really been implemented, but weren't removed?

Minor races should at the very least be allowed to colonize planets inside their home system, otherwise they're just too weak. Maybe make an option to let them colonize aggressively? I'd like to see that...
Yech. It did it again...I'm not submitting any more games to the Metaverse until I'm absolutely sure this is resolved...
Heh. I was spoiled, as my first games were as the Korx. Korx II, their "Mars", is Class 8. Much more useful than the class 4's and 3's I usually see as the second planet in the starting system. Now I need to stop myself from right-off-the-bat colonizing those pitiful little worlds until I've nabbed a nearby decent one or two...so I'm sort of in the "depends" camp.
I've given my word-of-mouth advertisement to a great number of people. Heck, my word of mouth gave you sales in GCI and AP with somebody. And that person subsequently saw GalCiv2 and has it right now, preordered from EB Games. I also showed somebody else? And this guy's the type to normally "try a game out" before buying [if you understand what I mean] and he is flat out scrounging money to buy it without that little preview. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" borde
Rings provide a research bonus, I believe.
Apparently not enough to give GalCiv2 a bad score, though. Every good review is extra press for the game and for Stardock, regardless.
Heheheh. ^^ When people say "PC games are dead. Get over it." or "Console games are on their last legs!" I just sort of giggle. Neither of them are going anywhere for a very long time. ^_^ Good to see GalCiv2 whapping the "PC-games-are-dying" crowd in the face, though.
I know the Korx actually have, like, negative 2 ability points. But the Iconians have, what? Six ability points to spend? Still can't touch the starting tech, but still.
Don't the Iconians have more points to put into other abilities?
Ahhh. Thanks a lot. I was looking in the Program Files GalCiv2 folder.
Ehm...this question is related. Where exactly are the save games stored on the hard drive? I can't seem to locate them, and without the save it's kind of ridiculous for me to be sending in an e-mail about not cheating when they can't tell if I have or not.
Meh. I'm just extremely bugged that Gamestop has said...like...zip. Zero. Nada. About anything. I mean...honestly...the only thing I've seen is an update of GC2 to the 24th on the Coming Soon on their main page. And they haven't bothered updating anything else on GC2. I honestly have no idea what to think. But I'm willing to wait it out.
Ever see Planet of the Apes? Know what a Klingon is? How about Apophis? Combine all three, and you have the Drengin. Evil talking carniverous monkeys from hell.
Hm. GameSpot.com has updated the Coming Soon on its main page, showing GC2's release as 2/24. The rest of the pages display 2/22, for some reason...well, it's something. I hope it comes tomorrow...
Hm...does anyone know anything about the status of Gamestop? I preordered from them but have heard nothing from them.
I'm not cancelling my preorder, as annoying as it might be. I'm willing to help Stardock out with keeping the game on the shelves. Not that I'm not angry -- at Take 2. But it's not going to kill me to wait a few more days.
Well, I bought the original GalCiv because I liked the box [and what the box said], so there IS some correlation to that in my own experiences. On a slightly different note, I'm going to try and publish a review of GalCiv2 in the my high school newspaper. ^_^ I hope such a thing might help you guys out -- I have no doubts that GC2 will be awesome. Very rare I can say that about a game.
So chances are I get my hands on a copy tomorrow or Wednesday... Awesome. Absolutely awesome. Even if I have to wait until Wednesday, I hate it when the release date is the "shipping" date and not the "supposed to hit the shelves at earliest" date. So yay!
Yeah, you found me, Blizzard. There's an Athens in the US? There is something new to me! There're a bunch of them. There're also Carthages, New Carthages, Uticas, Romes, etc. A lot of classical city names.
US. Illinois, to be exact. Would move to Canada though if the weather there was warmer.
Stardock seems to have a soft spot for the Drengin. I can see why, too. They're such cuddly evil, slavedriving, warmongering, carniverous skin-eating monkeys from hell.
Playing other stuff, like GC1. It's not easy, though...*still needs to get some major homework done, too*
The Drath are default Chaotic Good? That's sure a change from Altarian Prophecy. So much for being Pure Evil. I never thought them to be Evil, regardless...
No tactical.
