I dunno, I thought the Iconians started with the most tech not the Yor?

NO! Bad Brad! *hides your laptop in a high-tech steel safe* No laptop! No cookie!
This is what my friend said about this update: "If StarDock ran SWG? I'd drop everything and go back there instantly." And he HATES what SWG has become. Anyway, I think this is freaking awesome. I most excited about the AI and the Logo-on-ships parts. Especially the latter part. I thought for a while that might be in release, but it wasn't. Didn't car
I e-mailed them, and I was told that yes, the -2 points in ability are the cause of the problem. The Arceans apparently have the same problem.
Heh. I'd like to see some female leaderheads, myself, just for variety. And, also, because the founder of the militaristic, xenophobic, genocidal Terran Empire in one of my scifi universes is Empress Elaine Trevella I. And I'd much like to customize it accurately in-game.
I once had the Yor tell me a story about how they thought they'd heard about some non-carbon race called "Silicoids" and hadn't really found them. Man, they have issues.
You can just lose the mission and go on to a much easier, alternate one. Siege is MEANT to be freakishly difficult.
Good? Evil? Hah! Double hah! Neutral is the best. Those free terraformed tiles are just WAY too awesome. You gain the power of three levels of technology in one, plus you gain access to a beautiful extra few trade routes. AND you have an added advantage when you invade the worlds anyone who ISN'T neutral! Good and Evil might offer extra defenses or weapons, but you still have to research those. What amounts to free tech? Absolutely awesome! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/C
Actually, that would be pretty relievable by making them 1) very expensive to maintain and 2) require you to build both sides of it. There would be limited uses for them, but they would have their uses -- imagine if your ally, who lives on the OTHER SIDE of a Gigantic Galaxy -- surrenders to you. It'd be a pain trying to move ships all the way to and from it. A super-stargate would make travel between them much easier. Of course, this is a rare thing and would probably be too much wor
This game NEEDS a Stargate mod. Absolutely NEEDS. I want to build Ha'taks!
Any new "stargate" functionality would be something more along the lines of controlled/artificial wormholes. Basically, a "super-stargate". It's an idea that would be good, if the AI could be made to make use of them effectively.
You also need to be playing the same race as when you made the design. "Custom Races" all count as the same, so any design you make as a custom race will be there for playing as any other custom race. Kinda found that out when I went and made the robotic Ironglobe Union and could make Ironglobes [colony ships] as the Redigron Federation and the Tok'Ra Alliance...
In GalCiv1, Creativity simply made it so that you could be less "Evil" or less "Good" and still have access to certain technologies unique to...well...Good and Evil. No clue what it does in GC2, unfortunately.
I think I already have a "Mirror Universe" scenario in my game ?!?!? There is, but you can only play as the humans in it. Maybe they're planning on a second Mirrorverse scenario where you can PLAY as the cuddly Drengin or Vile Altarians or Hippie Yor or Virtuous Korx etc...
Indeed. The Yor are obviously a thinly veiled piece of propoganda, meant to show us who the truly superior ones are. The humans might be the heroes of the campaign, but that's all to trick us into a false sense of security. If I could only pry myself away from the game, I might try to stop their fiendish scheme. If only I could...
Shhhh! Don't make us send a Terminator after you! I was right! You ARE an evil computer from the future! We're funding EVIL by buying Stardock games! Funding the extinction of humans! ... But it's such a wonderful way to die...
"Hahaha! Lord Kona, you sore loser, you should've known better than to sell me that property. You've hit my Hotels there EVERY TIME you've gone past! Really, N-1 is a much better sport than you. Then again, uh, I usually lose to him so..."
"Hello, friend. We love that game of yours -- Monopoly, I believe it's called? It's a wonderful form of entertainment, and to commemorate its greatness we will be giving you some of the currency used within it. Happy gaming!" Yes, I noticed it's the Thalan he's playing as, but cut me some slack...
But there is a major basic design flaw that forces a player to micromanage something he doesn't even know much about. I must be a complete ignoramous, because I honestly have never micromanaged this stuff. In fact, I never noticed it.
Wow. And I thought I was a micromanager! You people are insane with this stuff. Myself, I prefer to be immersed in a universe in which my empire's every teeny tiny little function isn't at my control and I can't optimize because of it. But it seems I'm one of the few. Or the only, maybe. Though I suppose this is why I can't be competitive: I want to actually have some fun with the game. If your idea of fun is crunching numbers, I personally would recommend you get a job as an accountant.
I was disappointed one game when I found almost no special bonus tiles anywhere, especially on the big planets. But those big planets are awesome -- they can become tax cows or super-productive worlds even WITHOUT bonuses.
Actually, on certain types of maps Stellar Cartography is extraordinarily useful. Rare Habitability, Rare Planets, Abundant Stars? Or something with fewer planets and more stars, anyway.
You haven't read the Dominion of Korx's description, have you? They're the ultimate mercenaries and will do anything for a profit. If it means fighting proxy wars, they're up for it.
Just skin them, then throw 'em in the furnaces. If their skin is especially good, transport 'em to another colony for future harvesting.
I like having a combined fleet. Fighters, Corvettes, Frigates, Destroyers, Battleships...you name it, I try to have at least ONE of it. I usually create a "flagship fleet" which has my biggest, most advanced, most powerful, most EXPENSIVE ship at the lead with a couple smaller support vessels [high class, too] along with. I then have my Heavy, Medium, Light, and Swarm fleets. The number of fleets I have really depends on the game, but usually they advance from smallest to largest in this order:<
