Well. I'd like to see Map, Scenario, and Campaign editors. This stems more from me wanting to, uh, build my own campaigns and stuff. It feels really empty for the Campaign menu to have just one Campaign listed on it, and I had an entire series of campaigns plotted out after I made my one for Altarian Prophecy. That's basically it for now, actually. o.o

correct a mistake that "someone" says was made in the 1930's? When Pluto was first discovered, it was believed to be larger than it actually is. Around Earth-sized, if memory serves me correctly. It was only after the discovery of Charon that the true size of the rock could be determined. So yes, they are correcting a mistake. Simply

Most of the changes are relatively small/simple modifications that won't drastically make the game more fun. I think if you guys at Stardock want people to take this expansion seriously, you need to add some serious impro

See, I think optimal play in anything is work, since there's always something you can adjust to be better, something you can enhance, move, position, etc. to improve your chances just one little half percentage point more. I play games to have fun, and I do only as much micromanagement as is fun. I don't worry about the little details that could be optimal. But we're all different, I guess. Some people

If that is true, and it shows your diplomacy ability, then it should never go down. Only if it tracks total diplomacy ability. If it tracks diplomacy ability relative to other civilizations , then yes, it can go up and down.

All right, I had a long, thought out response that included a little story about my roleplayed game as a peacekeeper-type civilization whilst all victory conditions were disabled, and how I never tried to conquer, just...peacekeep and help maintain a galactic balance of power. But that got eaten due to an error. So...uhm...I'm not retyping all of that. xo;

Marioflag. 1: Spaces between sentences, argh. 2: There is a difference between game mechanics and story mechanics. The story can be one thing, the game another. If you've ever played a console RPG, there is often a series massively devastating magic attacks that could burn, blast, freeze, drown, or otherwise completely decimate the entire landscape, but outside of battle...nope, nothing happens. If you seriously can't draw the line, then think about this: the "population" of a worl

The social element adds a dimension beyond mere victory Yep, like...uhm...I dunno...sociality? What in the name of cheese is so great about this "social element"? I've played MMOs, I've played multiplayer, and quite frankly it all stinks. There is no fun in it that I can see. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#

I'm not sure I'll preorder, but I will most definitely buy it. Even though I was hoping for a $20 expansion, the stuff Stardock's putting into this expansion more than justifies the $30 price tag. Of course, I think they'd do better to also distribute the expansion to stores -- even just one retailer -- but I don't particularly mind, so long as I can get a CD sent to my house.

How can I purchase Stardoc products without using a credit card. I believe they're called "debit cards". Anyway, Stardock. I was excited about the expansion before this, now I'm DYING to have it. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of mention of a map/scenario/campaign editor, but honestly that's small time compared t

Should there be intelligent life out there [and pretty high possibility], there'll probably be things that are humanoid, semi-humanoid, and not humanoid at all, rather than "all aliens are humanoid" or "all aliens are FREAKISHLY DIFFERENT".

Roleplaying, eh? I do quite a bit of it, usually as an altered Terran civilization called either the "Terran Confederation" or "Terran Empire". I also roleplay as the "Dominion of Man", a custom race which basically amounts to a breakaway human civilization which is highly militaristic and xenophobic to the point of being genocidal. Heheh. My latest game, though, I've taken control of the Korx and am now roleplaying as that evil group of scum. Though the rule of evil might not last, as compl

@ Lucien Gyiira - Been interesting debating the finer and not too fine points with you, what was the game you were talking about? beleivers? rings a bell but I can't quite put my finger on it. Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Excellent turn based game, there -- no tactical combat, either. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif"

Who else in the Universe could be worse than the Drengin and Dread Lords than the Humans? Oh, I don't want to see the Korx go anywhere. They have some of the better dialogue. But eh, I don't particularly have a say in it. Though I would expect the Korx to die, I'm also thinking Altaria may be brought down. This IS going to be an expansion about striving to be evil.

So no problem in that regard, yes? Partly not, but I still would prefer that the cultural and trading game be improved, and the technological victory be made more interesting [even something as simple as "once you research such-and-such, the Dread Lords are unleashed and begin conquering the galaxy -- now you and everyone else must fend them of

Why are you worried about, or even care what other people use to win their games with? Not worried at all, nor do I care. What I do care about is Stardock putting resources into making GalCiv essentially a wargame, when it is not. Warfare is one aspect of it, and I do utilize it frequently. I don't want Stardock to waste their resources on t
