For Single player - If the answer was NO, then the Sov becomes a nuetered unit. With YES, he retains his magical aura and prestige. For Online play - The Host decides, those who agree join, everyone else can go pound sand or each other. ;)

As a compromise, how about if the new structures, those being more than one cell in size, be allowed to be "plunked" on top of an existing single cell dwelling thus incorporating that single structure into the new larger one. The roads you build are nothing more than a conduit for trade among your Cities. An investment made to encourage said trade. If you find yourself unable to defend those roads against the enemy, then the defense of said roads would be the least of your troubles. The enemy is obviously headed for your likewise poorly defended cities, by your road... or not. :)

One could also predict that givens the need for roads, even inside the Cities proper (though unseen at this point),the building of all diagonal structures would require twice the squares to avoid said roads from "morphing through" structures as it traverses the city map . TAB is sporadic at best for myself. If I have my Souv selected on the map and TAB, it will go to my 1 town at the time and then back. If I deselect that same Souv right after and then TAB again, I end up in the map corner with the fancy Compass. Then the TAB never functions properly after that.

IF Souv death = EoG, and currently a Souv ability to gain Exp is in Battle, then perhaps if the Souv gained his Exp as a percentage of his troops kills, via proximity/radii, then if his force begins to lose, he can simply flee, with a head start, versus being stuck in the middle during those game periods when his powers could be overwhelmed early on. With Random map generation and placement of Factions, using towns with Resources in them or very near by getting Better Bonuses could create a slippery slope scenario. Research should allow materials to be created, but that creation requires access, directly to said resource. It would seem rather strange to have units built with a Resource of which you have none. Time and cost are irrelevant if the Resource required simply does not exist at the time of need. That would require Magic and so far as we know, the Magic System does not include fabricating a resource out of thin air. Does the current faction choice have any bearing on the SOV's? If not, then perhaps a SOV tweaking system based on Faction selected. Always limit any Tweaks/Stat to minor upgrades at best, or within a week of release, every hardcore, win at all costs, player will be playing the same Faction SOV just to WIN! :)

I have yet to lose my own Sovereign but I did think it a tad strange how easy I was killing the other Sovereigns I found while exploring the map. I don't beleive I have yet to get my Sovereign past Level 3 before the "Out of Memory" CTD got me so I was never "high level".

And I would add that it was not always the Victory but the ability to master the gameplay itself. I was, and am again with the new MechWarrior Reboot announcement, a Mech head. Back in the day driving a Mech and becoming proficent took time effort and alot of self inflicted deaths. Then as time passed, Mech no longer exploded when abused but simply shut down, a mechanic that could actually be abused. <
