Just to confirm, if you save a game and restart elemental and load that save game, the performance remains about the same? Also does anyone have a save game which makes their pc run in single digits fps and if so could they upload it somewhere and provide a link please. This will help with tracking down the root issue.

You can be sure this is being investigated as a priority.
But Neil, how does that explain the problems for us with two or three cores (and for whom changing affinity settings does not help)? Fact is, it appears the GPU is not doing much if anything at all.
Personally I think there is an issue thats causing the game to be 100% cpu bound which is why the GPU is fairly idle.
Quoting Neil Banfield, reply 124 If you have an older Quad core processor ..... I have q6600 @ 3.2 Gh so i guess it qualifies as an older type, but setting cpu's affinity to cores 0 and 1 did not improve the performance whatsoever.
In further testing it seems sometimes windows is putting things on the right cores and sometimes it is not. When it is doing t
Quoting Frogboy, reply 98 Here's a video capture of my machine at the office from a few minutes ago: http://www.screencast.com/t/ZDJmYTdlYjM ~2500x1600 Let's see what's running in common on those systems. Hey boss. Go install FRAPS and then re-do your screencast. I want to see dynamic framerates.&nb
If you have an older Quad core processor (one with two dual core cpus stuck together - Pre i5/i7 era) then opening up taskmanager and setting affinity to cpu cores 0 and 1 should improve performance by 30% or so. This should remove the specific performance hit that those systems are having. This will not fix everything if they are also having the general peformance hit issue, but it will at least remove one problem. I would expect future patches to resolve the older quad c
To the poster about nerds using dual monitors Lol, take a look at any modern office, and home setups. And you will see many computer users run dual monitors. Also every modern video card has dual monitor jacks, jack-ass. I suppose you are one of those folks who still uses a CRT monitor, while the rest of us have moved on to LCD screens. Also, you completely missed the point of the post. T
Which OS did you install on?
Do you mean the DirectX 8.1 supporting Radeon 9250? If so I believe the game requires a DirectX9 supporting graphics card, the lowest of those is the 9500 but the lowest supported is the X1600 which is a couple of generations newer than your card.
I had a look at this and it seems the 7 and 9 keys do move the unit, but I have had trouble getting the 1, 2 and 3 keys to do anything which would appear to be a bug. I will let the right people know about this.
What problems are you having? Have you installed the latest version from Impulse?
Could you provide a little more information such as the OS you are using and what type of video card you have?
Neil: I appreciate the fact that user created maps can be imported easily, but let's face it: Many of those maps will be bad or built in order to have an interesting effect or situation. Only a few will be simple standard maps. So I'd rather have random maps, thank you. Plus, I assume we will be able to look at the maps before downloading it, which kind of defeats the purpose of having an unknown map.
Well you get to see a
Actually there are no diagonal keys on the numpad as 7, 9, 1 and 3 are Home, Page Up, End and Page Down. I will make sure the developers are aware of your request for those keys to have actions assigned to them though as I don't think those keys are currently doing anything in Elemental.
A fix for this was implemented after the Sunday patch was released. I have PM'ed you.
You should be ok to ignore this error. It relates to adding the game into the special Vista / 7 Game folder. I suspect you already have it in the game explorer and thats why it failed to add it again.
On the first options screen there is a setting to clip the cursor when in fullscreen. If you enable this you should be able to scroll just fine in multimonitor mode.
Was this a clean install or an upgrade over a previous beta?
What settings do you have enabled on the Elemental Video options tab? Also what resolution are you playing at?
I believe you can archive the download using Impulse on your first PC (right click on the game in Impulse rather than installing) and then install Impulse on the second machine and use that archive with it. The download will require a one time activation which can either be done online, or the PC will generate a small file which you then e-mail to suport and they will send back a suitable activation file. Or as the person just above me just said, you can use Impulse Anywhere.&nb
On the first tab of the options screen at the bottom left there is an option to clip the cursor in fullscreen mode. If you enable this you should find the cursor is being kept on the primary monitor.
Just to remind you that we have built in the ability for other users to create their own maps and share them with others directly from the game, so if you get bored with the included ones then there should be a healthy supply of alternatives.
You can change your nick in Chat by using /nick NewNameHere The achievements are for multiplayer games I believe. The login failure may be because the servers are under heavy load right now with everyone downloading the game. If this continues to happen then please let us know.
Even if the boxed copy was in retail in Europe you would still need to use Impulse for installing patches. You can be pretty sure that if there were any issues with the download system then they would be fixed pretty quickly as every single Elemental customer who will be installing updates will be using Impulse regardless of how they purchased it (retail vs online).
Are you able to provide a screenshot showing the bad font in use? Perhaps it is a rendering issue.
