I was wondering this myself. It's surprising that I don't see any user maps around... I was hoping to try some out.

As GC2 was brought up, I thought I'd chime in too. The behavioral AI in GC2 was top notch... each race felt different and felt like it had a personality. I didn't feel like I was playing against a generic AI but against that actual race. And each race had a different feel to it. Any move to make the AI like it was in GC2 is a move in the right direction.
Great post! The question really is whether coding time should be used to balance this or whether players should play at higher levels and in turn give the AI bonuses that address this. I know what the forum response to the choices presented here would be. But it would be very very time consuming to address some of the things you mention. Now, with the other parts, like the cities with no production part, along

Yes, I really did enjoy the movie as well. Although it's been long since I read The Hobbit and so I can't recall how true it is to the original.

I think the best (easy) solution would be similar to what many people are saying. Most creatures would kill population and destroy some buildings while only the really large ones, like dragons, would destroy the entire city outright. Basically, the stronger the creature, the more damage done. However, what I'd really like to see is a little more variety. Animals and other less intelligent creatures would act more instinctively and, basically, leave the player a
...Even with my army right beside their town the AI sends out a group of horsemen to take back that outpost, instead of maybe attacking my solo units. They also placed their sovereign alone in the middle of my guys... with no back up what so ever. This unfortunately happens all the time. The AI just does not realize that putting small groups of units or even solo champions right next to my huge armies is a bad idea.
Yes, I have noticed the AI

These seem to me to just be entertaining villains. The fact that you don't have Gene Hackman or Gary Oldman (especially in The Professional) in your list is just utter nonsense. PoSmedley's also got some good ones. And the fact that Unicron was mentioned... awesome! :P And The Riddler from Batman Forever?? Is that a joke?

My tastes are more in line with myfist and heavenfall... The fact that no Japanese animes, like Miyazaki's films, made the list makes me think this is just for US animated movies. I find Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away to easily be better than all those in the above list. But that may just be me.

If the AI is improved and the difficulty settings actually make for a challenging game, then that will make all the difference!
I almost wish they would just take diplomacy out of these types of games because they aren't ever really real alliances and we all know how we are and that "WE" will be the first to break them given the chance at a later time in the game. Never understood why anyone wants to play a wargame strategy game and expect to win "peacefully". lolol All players are really doing that want alliances are buying time for themselves to b

This seems to be a bug for me. I have a town upgrade, the trade technology, and no other faction had built it but I was still unable to select merchantcross bazaar as a building selection. http://pastebin.com/1cQchkK0
one thing you can do is to take the offensive against the weaker nations that declared war on you. This makes you stronger while you take their resources and cities and allows you to create more fighters. use these extra resources to take more cities from the weaker nations until you get strong enough to hold off the main enemies. Once this happens, you can usually turn the tide of the war slowly but surely. that is how I usualky h

Hey guys... no offense but can we keep this on topic. You guys have already gone way off! [e digicons]8(|[/e] It's a real pity that this seems to be the case. It seems that this game is not following in the footsteps of GalCiv2 or Fall from Heaven, both of which had very immersive and interesting interactions with the AI. Each race had a feel to it and they acted accordingly. Depending on your actions and alignment, you slowly developed friends, enemies, a

I've played a little bit of the last beta and now into the full release of Fallen Enchantress. I've overall been quite impressed with the game but there is one aspect that I'm not sure how to take yet. I've noticed now twice in which a couple of AIs will declare war at about the same time and gang up on me. The most recent one was very odd because I was on friendly terms with both of the AIs, Tarth and Magnar. Why would races that I'm becoming fri

I never worked on the beta simply because I didn't have the time. But I have been following things through the forums on how Fallen Enchantress has been developing. I was always happy to hear how you all were really listening to feedback and the community seemed to be, overall, happy with your work. On another note, I certainly will not forget that you have given myself, and others, Fallen Enchantress for free because War of Magic didn't "live up to the standard."

I'll be keeping my eye out on this one. I know of few of you from the DW forums and that game just doesn't seem to be going anywhere, unfortunately. I still feel like I'm playing a beta and the real issues aren't being fixed... or the bugs even. This one is looking promising. Hopefully, a good AI, and enough skill levels, will come out in the end. So, that I'm not yawning because the game becomes too easy :P

Yeah, I picked this one up and look forward to getting into it. It looks like a real RTS, in terms of one that centers on strategy and tactics rather than how fast you can micro / macro.

The Kohan series is really good. I saw the warchest on sale at direct2drive for today. Still has an active multiplayer community as well (although Kohan 2 has been a bit slow of late, I hear the first is still going strong).
