Tactical battles in Elemental are really quite a mess. Sure you can tweak weapon settings etc but at the end of the day they are very deeply flawed. To correct them it will require a lot of evaluating concepts that are core to the whole game. But if this process isn't done then Elemental will always be a poor substitute for the old fantasy TBS games we all love. Current Situation Elemental tactical battles are

Thanks for the info. :) I assumed one of the locations would take precedence. I've been able to create a new race with a combination of allegiance buildings plus its own set of unique buildings but this just looked a little odd for Kraxis.
Because Kraxis as a "Race" are a subset of "Men". They share the same unit models and animations. They just took a shortcut with code, that's all. There's a lot of other "human" races they do this with too. I'm learning that trying to make skins that apply to only one subset of humans and getting it to show up for just that race. I'm actually stuck on that right now. But I've learned all kinds of cool stuff about the layout of how things in the xml
Yes. Would be good to have a little more info on this. I've downloaded the Havok plugins but without the Elemental converter and info it is a bit of a waste of time.
I tried turning these back on again by just editing the game files, changing the RaceClassification to Kraxis but it didn't do anything. Not sure why. Perhaps there is a cache for the actual game files somewhere.
Been giving this a good go tonight with 1.07. GPU usage hovers around 25% which is much better but probably still isn't high enough yet. Frame rate away from cities is around 50fps, and around 10fps over cities.
Under the Core Improvements folder are a bunch of faction-specific improvements. Most are split between Kingdom and Empire but there are a couple of other interesting files in here: KraxisImprovements.xml and KraxisSpecificImprovements .xml The buildings within these files use a prerequesite structure of:
Race &nb
I think tools is the right spot. :) Eclipse is a great program and extremely extendable but setting it up and understanding it can be a bit tricky for the uninitiated. Added a few screenshots now as well.
Screenshots added to the OP.

Absolutely. The way the game currently is there is no difference between your choices for sovereign. In the early betas there was some differentiation and when they changed it so that all magic books were accessible to all sovereigns I assumed that it was for testing purposes.

Once the crushing worry about release dates and overall reception have come and gone, the post-release update period is the most fun you can have making games. It took me quite a few turns to have a win in Dominions. :) The pretenders can be devastating.
What is the ETA on the next patch? This week? Next week? today? This is a game-stopping bug so I hope the Stardock resources are not being diverted to fulfil the multiplayer promise. Please fix these issues before moving on to other items so we can play the game.
To have called it a tutorial, would have required them to make another 'campaign', my guess is, that was just too much work considering the shoddy state of the 'mod tools'.
Funny, I think the mod tools are the saving grace of the game at the moment. I can't think of another game that gave modders so much power to change aspects with relative ease. The only short-fall is that you need to do a lot of work to create your own creature

Yeah. Try putting them in the actual game folder. There should be a folder called 'Mods'.
Where are you saving them? Mine only work if they are in the Mods folder. Not in the My Documents area as was the original setup.
I've been using Eclipse a bit more this morning and it is really solid for doing the XML work. :) The combination of the search facility, editor and code outline all on one screen is great. I haven't ever bothered with Eclipse in the past for XML but this is a really cool application.
I've been experimenting a little with making the races more unique. If you are wanting to limit certain aspects for this mod you can specify a Race prerequisite to control who gets tech, item, units, building etc. I just posted about it here... https://forums.elementalgame.com/394562
