The debug.err file still may have been useful, though it's probably been overwritten by now. Please grab that next time, if nothing else.
And since you obviously hate pirating so much mind telling me if availability of a software product in retail makes pirating that product more or less likely?
Things get pirated either way. If you actually work in software distribution as you claim to, that you'd even consider piracy is shameful.

The simple fact of the matter is that the UK is enjoying price ranges right now that were set a couple of years ago when the po

Paypal is fine for released games or during open beta periods. It just can't do the delayed charges so you can't preorder with it while orders are on queue.
I've got a debit card, and I had no problems purchasing the game.
European debit cards tend to be pin-only rather than allowing them to be signed for as with a credit card (VISA check cards are fairly common here and generally offer both options). It's usually cheaper to get it from e-bay anyway if you need the box... Can't even remember the last time I bought a game in a store.
Just be extremely careful doing that if that's the way you go. E-bay tends to be rife with bootleggers.
I just purchased the pre-release yesterday, and I have the box checked, but no Beta. Several others on the stardock forum have said something similar.
The beta was closed to new entrants after we released Beta 4 Thursday afternoon. Any orders made after then will be queued and charged at release.

Please provide your debug.err file and any memory dump that was generated by the crash. We can't do much without real info.

When you are reporting a crash, please provide any context you can about what you were doing in the game when the crash occurred. The dump is very helpful but background info will allow us to better categorize and prioritize it for developer review.

Game got slow at about turn 190, saving and re-loading the game fixed this for a few turns at least.
Even if others are reporting these issues, your own debug.err and memory dumps can help resolve them faster.
