If you try setting fullscreen=0 in the prefs.ini file found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental, is the result the same?
Twelve is the cap on army size; trying to move more than twelve units together into one tile will result in their stacking rather than merging into an army. There isn't currently any method to exchange units between stacked armies, but if you split them into adjacent tiles you should be able to do so easily.
If you were experiencing slowdown and/or white screens after successive tactical battles, that should be resolved in last night's update.
If this is happening when you minimize the game, running in windowed mode at your desktop resolution should give you better stability while we work on a fix.
Moving this to support. If you can upload the save for repro, please do.
If you encounter this again, please keep the latest autosave before the battle so we can try and reproduce it.

Some users have reported that this only happens in towns, so you might try idling them outside the city to heal while we track this issue down.
Please contact [email protected] about account/registration issues, they should be able to help.
If you can provide a savegame demonstrating this issue, it may help us resolve it.
Is this under a campaign started entirely under 1.06? If you were working off a save from earlier versions with the initial 1.06 build from earlier in the evening last night, there may be issues.
Was this a retail install or an Impulse install?
If you have a savegame that demonstrates this, it may help us resolve the issue more quickly.
You might try getting newer GMA drivers from Intel's site, but the 945 is not really going to be capable of playing the game as it emulates most of the video functions via CPU.

Are they spawning when you research Adventure techs (some unlock previously hidden resource nodes), or just at random?
