We fixed a lot of sound-related issues in battles in 1.07. Can you post a fresh debug.err file so we can see if it's having issues elsewhere?

In order to speed up access to the UI and model textures, the game merges multiple ones together into one large texture map. The setting determines the maximum size of that map. How large you can go depends on the allowed texture size and VRAM on your video card, but bigger settings may give a minor performance increase. It defaults to the lowest for compatibility reasons.

Are you using ati tray tools or any other apps that override refresh rates?

Turn the cloth map zoom slider down from 100 to 70-80, and it should switch as you zoom in and out.
It should be loading the XML right after that line, so it's possible something got broken in the rollback. Give a fresh reinstall off Impulse a shot.

Barring dev feedback post-weekend, if you're not using any mods (if you are, try getting rid of them), go ahead and give a fresh reinstall a shot if you can.
It's hard to say just what's going on as the debug doesn't seem to indicate much aside from a few alt-tabs followed by an exit. What point exactly is it hanging at now?
Some items have race/gender requirements based on the model, which we do need to convey better or get rid of.

Is this under 1.07? Creature leveling was adjusted so this shouldn't be happening.
Was this on alt-tab or midgame?
I'm not sure how the launcher could be failing to open in play mode then, but it's probably not worth the effort--if you make a shortcut straight to the game's exe, you should be able to just run it directly.

If this persists through a save/load, please post the save to drop.io and link it here so the devs can test on that particular case to improve ZOC drawing.

Are you running any other 3D programs at the same time? You might also try setting the game to fullscreen=0 in the prefs.ini file located at My Douments\My Games\Elemental.
