Wow! After being gone for this long I really expected a much different response here although it is nice that some of the stability issues have been worked out. I guess I will check back again after FE comes out or on the release anniversary.

Still very very bland for me. I didn't care that much about the tech issues, i was just shocked that at release and even now MoM has more "pop" and tactical depth than EWOM does.
And you think that the fanboy response here has helped SD or hurt it....? Hmmm... Perhaps the tone of the actual SD employee would serve as a guide? Naw... I am sure that Xia's response generated lots of goodwill from the OP and readers who might have some doubts.
Quoting greywar, reply 99 I didn't expect this thread to have this negative a connotation given the rabid fanboyism that has accompanied EWOM but holy crap. When a C is being counted as a "positive" post it might be time to sit back and start over. I think that people realize that since the devs are asking, that they need to be honest. We could all say "nah, it's totally cool as is" but that doesn't reward the d
AT RELEASE: E: War of Magic: F (I was horrified) Mount and Blade Warband:B+ Dwarf Fortress (when EWOM came out): B END OF 2010: E: War of Magic: D- (more stable but still about as fun as coin flipping) Mount and Blade Warband:B+ Dwarf Fortress: B+ (adventure mode yay!) NOW: E: War of Magic: D- Stability issues aside this game simply needs a creative reboot and a serious l
I just came back to check if "blame the poster" was still in vogue here. Sure is. Thanks for proving my point. 2 months later and the forums are actually *worse*. Awesome.
Well said sir.
Unfortunately I have to rather agree with the OP. And Rechnelis2's avatar rather makes my point. I recently got MoM from gog.com and I've been playing the hell out of it. You cast a perm spell on a unit, it glows. if you have magical weapons, mithril, adamantite.. you can see it in the unit-info. I understand the desire for a tech-tree. And to a degree it makes sense.. .But there is the feel that it
This is exactly what still needs to happen in order to make the combat engine live up to it's potential. A major overhaul.
Excellent post, great idea.
Quoting Wintersong, reply 24Yes, some of you have failed your 1.1 chance. Don't be back and save yourselves some frustration. Those who truly care about the game and/or their money spent on it, there is a Support subforum awaiting for your issues reports. Some issues will get resolved sooner than others but that's to be expected. Telling people not to come back is counterproductive. No one's being outri
I need an official answer. Are they working on delivering what's on the box, or not? I think it's a fair question.
You question is valid, but the answer is no. I wouldn't really expect more answers than the one already linked.
This was IMHO the most egregious deisgn element left out of Elemental. It is on the Big List of stuff though so hopefully they will get around to it soon. This is what stopped me from playing after the first few days. I was trying to stay engaged but the combat was simply too badly designed to keep my interest.
Try and think of the game as still being in the Beta phase. They are still working on it and will for at lest a year.
This is *exactly* why he deserves a refund. Signing up for the Beta doesn't mean he shouldn't be afforded the same rights as a new customer who bought on launch day. Frankly, he should be treated even better. Do it any other way is counter productive and well... retarded. Unless you are trying
Select the NPC. Click the action tab. Hover over the greyed out handshake icon. The tooltip will tell you exactly why you can't talk to them.
Yeah, this really needs improvement. When you get the "denied" icon the tooltip needs to be popping up with the reason why.
This should be addressed. You should be allowed to get a refund and penalizing those who supported the beta process is a bad idea.
To be honest, I would prefer that Brad save his time and skip the tutorial and just write up a decent manual that explains everything. If a tutorial breaks into the time and effort spent on content, I'll take content any day. Tutorials are overrated anyway. I think most of us were satisfied with Master of Magic's thick manual explaining everything we didn't understand, rather than a hold-you-by-the-nose t

I'm glad the "reviewer" liked it, but not a single mention of the bland and gimpy magic system, ridiculously ineffectual champions, dearth of unit choices, lack of meaningful faction differences, broken combat mechanics and so on. Due to realities of reserving retail shelf space they locked themselves into having only 2 choices for release -- when they did, or Feb. Waiting a day or 3 wasn't possible. If it meant having the game in a much better state and better condition upon release, so the game sells through t
Big picture, the shit has hit the fan press side, and Stardock has a lot of cleanup to do. This release was not a catastrophic fuck up though, or 54/46 in favor of the game wouldn't be there. Great post. These are the design features we wanted to see. I don't even care about the bugs in either EWoM or MoM. I just wanted the design to be inspired and fun. I still do.
The commentary here is a great example of cognitive dissonance. If you are reading vitriol up in the OP you might not know what the word means.
Quoting RogueCaptain, reply 79How did 1UP play multiplayer when it isn't even ENABLED! The screen shots are all taken from this website. Umm, is there a pirated version that has multiplayer LAN or something? The facts don't add up. yup, I was reading the review even though I find 1ups reviews more comedy then anythign else... And what do I see in the review?? They mention Multiplayer..
Amazing work, I found nothing I disagreed with. Valuable feedback.
Wait about 2 months and give it a go then. It will be a more rewarding experience than it is now. That said, if you want to help do a Gameplay Beta, then buy in and start posting ideas. Not sure if that is your cup of tea.
