It's been awhile since I played Civ 4. I evidently don't know how to play well in this game. Anyway, I tried to play the new Supernova game and got creamed again. I mean the other civs have3 or 4 time my military power and from the number of techs compared to me, they are probably 5 times what I have. They have many, many more planets than I do. I am kind of at a loss here. How are they producing so much and researching so fast?

I can live with one tech at a time, if SD really doesn't want to deal with the headaches of multiple research lines at the same time. I just don't believe that specialization should cut you off from other lines of research. The penalty is already built in, if you specialize you will plow down one line of research and not have really balance capital ships. If you generalize, you are going to be far behind the specialist in his specialization. I would rather SD make specializati

It doesn't make sense to me. We don't have shield technology today, but you can bet major countries are researching better armor and better point style defenses. Same with weapons, all three types are being researched. I could see specialization being used to make research along one line quicker and maybe cheaper, but the other lines should be available. If someone wants to spend time being a generalist, he/she will have to deal with the specialist that develops the super duper long r

Correct. it is my first name. Probably derived from a forrester, someone who worked in forests cutting trees in the past, I suspect. In my case, it was a family name in the past in England. Sorry to take so long answering your question, Dragoaskani. I some how missed it entirely.

Seems to me that a year would be the most reasonable, long enough to be a pain but short enough to be possible. If they are going to take so long, why is the quick cost so low. It is not even close in relationship to build times for similar cost items.

I haven't noticed them. Next time I play I'll use them to delete the two duds I created by saving. When you go to save, it would be nice to get a confirming notice saying that will now create the custom race. Us old folks get forgetful now and then, [e digicons]*_*[/e]

I wish there was a way to either edit or delete custom leaders. A couple of times I was creating one and had to go do something else. Without thinking I clicked save, thinking you could come back and finish it. Now I have two custom leaders that are not complete and pop-up as a choice when I want to select the race to play. This isn't a major problem, but it would be nice to be able to clean it up.

They could make a planet colonized by a purchased colony ship be the race from which the ship was purchased, unless, of course, the new owner decides to space the current colonists aboard and pick up new colonists from the purchaser's worlds. [e digicons]:|[/e]

I understand about placing production facilities directly on the resources they use. Is there any benefit to dropping the HQ on top of a resource, such as water so a water pump wouldn't be necessary, or for that matter the oxygen/fuel generators?

Actually not reasonable. You should get all of the building, the resources and the HQ. and maybe the cash, because it was probably used as part of the buyout value. The thing that annoys me is being able to buy out a player without owning more than 50% of the stock. That shouldn't occur unless the player is willing.

It kind of bothers me that you can be bought out when you own 50% of your stock. I think that should be an offer that you can refuse. Hostile takeovers should require ownership of more than 50% of the stock in a company.

So, If you are getting close to 2 mill, you might want to go on a shopping spree. Knock off some expensive purchases on your planets, buy ships, purchase techs. Be happy! [e digicons]:)[/e]

I haven't designed any ships, but I have the same problem. When I go to build a ship, a whole slew of variations and past models pops up, even the ones I had already marked as obsolete. I don't mind the variations, such as short range more power or longer ranger but less power and the regular model, but it irks me that every time my techs go up all those obsolete models come up. They didn't do that before.
