As a subset to this, when I the game, your exe file remains in the process for an inordinate amount of time. Several times I have returned and tried to restart the game, only to be told I could not. Opening the task manager and looking under processes two files are still there, the exe file and a framework (I think, can't remember at the moment, but it is easily recognizeable.) They seem to remain up to about 20 - 25 minutes. As soon as I delete the processes I can restart the game.

If you keep you map backed out as much as possible, you should be able to see enemy ships approaching. You can mouse over them to see what's there. Try to keep an eye on those areas as the turns change. Then you should at least know where the combat occurred.

AIs should be consistent. If the description says they are a good races or a cautious/neutral races, they shouldn't be coming out attacking as soon as you meet them. As time progresses, if you have been friendly, have made trades and maybe trade routes, they should become even friendlier, not stabbing you in the back. Small, non-major races should be looking for friends/protectors and trade partners. I enjoy humorous and sarcastic responses/comments from AIs when ap

I still have not been able to use the designer to rotate the ship left and right or to raise or lower the nose or tail to see to position items. For some reason, the standard method the of the players are using just doesn't work. IU haven't programed any buttons, and am using a new microsft wireless mouse and keyboard.

[/quote] I know if a race has invulnerability researched, I can't kill it's ships. I don't know if this applies to attacking the race's planets also.

In response to Rand Johnson, reply no. 387: I'll give it another shot. I was always moving the mouse or using another key before, so the ship never rotated up. I thought I did hold one or the other mouse button, but again, I think I was moving the mouse. Thanks.

Having found the Drengin home world so early, you should have gone right to weapons research and built some early combat ships. Knocking out the shipyards and keeping the combat ships overhead to keep knocking them out would prevent them from any further expansion. The only worry would be if their survey ship found a colony ship, need to kill that bugger as fast as possible. Then you can proceed at your leisure until you can build transports needed to capture the Drengin planets.

I've been trying to log in using my account name and password here. The profile and name should be the same for the Iron Clad correct? If not, I do vaguely remember having another name when I played but I need to be able to get my info back, is there a way to get it back?

Now this is truly annoying. I am NOT in Europe. When I ordered the Collectors Edition, nothing was mentioned about being the European version. I wonder if that is why I am having some problems, but at least now I have a serial number that will allow downloading updates. What kind of a idiot idea is it to produce a game you can't update using the serial number that comes with the thing?
