The AI is actually better than I thought. I just lost in the tutorial. lol (I suck)
You lost in a tutorial?! Wow... Seriously though, that's kind of cool. Not only do you learn something (hopefully, lol) but it's challenging?! When you order it and have it shipped, does it include a printed manual in that too?
There are some "nuetral" Minor factions in the game. The thing here in particular is what happens to the "left over" cities of an enemy Empire after we defete them in game.
One idea would be to check if there are champions in those cities, grab the one with the higher overall stats and have them take over the cities. If the Sovereign had children, they should have an opportunity to take over if they're not in the captured city.

You're talking about this game, right? M.A.X. + M.A.X. 2 - GOG.com http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/m_a_x_m_a_x_2 That was one of my favorites!! How do you envision a M.A.X. mod working in Elemental?

If you start a game with Janusk Advice unchecked does he still appear? I don't have the game in front of me, but I thought there was an option for him somewhere in the game. How does that work for MP? Does everyone have their own Janusk? So I wonder if there's some option you set in your campaign xml that would keep him away. Maybe there's some event that could be created at the start of the game that could just kill him off and display a random death messa

What about something like \Elemental\Mods\ ModName \? Would this be easier to manage more complex mods that may consist of lots of xml files? For some of the more involved mods, when an update would be made available I would think it would be easier to instruct someone to delete a specific folder vs. specific files. I don't know if the game currently scans through sub folders.
I wanted to learn the various intricacies of modding, so I set out to fix the bugs I could find in the game (that were modifiable). The idea is to create a mod that doesn't add anything, but still improves the quality of the current patch. It is not intended to unbalance things, but rather supply the intended function (as long as its reasonable!). It is intended to be a "patch" between official patches. I also wanted to provide the fixes in a

Replacements was a poor choice of words. I was looking at the list of folders that are scanned and was thinking that if it's not one of those "types" (represented by the folder name) then it would go in the \mods folder. However I was reading another thread that pretty much implies it's irrelevant which of those folders it's located in and/or the filename. It's all about the root element used for that file. Sorry, just trying to wrap my head around the details. [e

The trees are sacred. Maybe it's like how some religions believe the cow is sacred and even though they may be starving they refuse to eat the cow.

That's interesting about the \mods folder. Like others have said, I don't have one either. Not saying that it doesn't work nor do I doubt it. It's just that in the debug.err file it doesn't include a message that it's looking there for files. Although maybe it doesn't include that folder in the output since it's within the main application folder. Just a curiosity is all. So is the \mods folder where you can put your replacements for the core files?

So here are some suggestions I have based upon an old PBM system. Whenever a Sovereign dies, there should be a chance for a Civil War, even when there is an obvious heir who will take the Sovereign's place as ruler of the country, empire, etc. Chances of a Dynastic Failure Base chance of a Dynastic Failure is 10%. Two free stuns a turn? Sign me up! If you made it castable once or twice during combat, then it would be fine (with a small price hike), or maybe 1 + number of air shards controlled. As it is, that staff should be worth thousands! And it unlocked right away, which means I could run around blasting stuff with a
Something I wanted to add in regards to the question "Why is it sometimes I cannot talk to other champions to hire them?". It may be obvious to some, but you need to have your Sovereign as your currently selected unit. If you had clicked on something else and try to click on the champion the talk option won't be available. If you click on the Sovereign and then the champion, you can then talk to the champion. Hmm, i definitely can hir

If only there was a way to take away someone's Karma, even if it meant putting them in negative numbers. [e digicons]:typo:[/e] Seriously though, no. I have no problems with supporting a game through expansions and/or DLC. DLC needs to be restricted to content, not "fixes" that should have been made available as a patch. For something like Elemental, I could see DLC in the form of campaigns or new factions (with new models, sounds, etc.). DLC allows

You know, who says you need sliders to control the range, damage, aoe? You could always "expand" the spellbook and research the different flavors of each spell. Chain Lightning I - 2 squares, 3-14 damage Chain Lightning II - 4 squares, 2-7 damage Chain Lightning III - 6 squares, 1-5 damage Yeah, it's not as "cool" or interactive as sliders but you'd have the choice as to how you want to cast that spell. I'd love to see improvements or enhancements

The spell charging idea is interesting. Or even having a cast timer in order to bring out even more powerful spells. I remember the end of The Ambassador Chronicles (Warhammer) where the Tsarina needs time to complete her "I win!" spell. The battle rages around her, troops are giving up their lives to protect her. She finally completes her spell and annihilates the enemy
