Beta testers can't reasonably be blamed. For instance: We all thought the magic system wasn't good. Brad also though the magic system in the beta needed work, said so and said there was an internal beta different from the one we were playing, and a one-month period after the beta where stuff like that would be fixed. There was no point repeating the magic system was bad or making suggestions, since stardock already knew that and had decided a course of action for it. I refrain

Too many cliffs in the map generation to start with. Next, ships are pretty useless on the 'random' maps anyway.

+1. Particularly point 2. We need an army management screen so we can easily group units together etc, and not just when they're in a city, and something better than what's available when units are in a city. A simple system like MoM had works well.

Life and Death spellbooks should just be tied to the faction instead of the sovereign, all the more so since only predesigned sovereigns have them. Plus, the books are more or less duplicates of each other, which doesn't make sense. When you have both books, you can learn 2 spells to protect your city for instance, with different names but exactly the same effect.

I started a tactical battle with more than 10 units on each side, and a fire elemental of mine started near the enemies, just next to them. I didn't check where all my units were, but when my turn came, I looked and saw that the fire elemental and a familiar were both in the same tile!
I think if the player has to research the (element) spell book in the Magic tech tree, that unlocks the improved (element) spell book in the Magic tech tree, that unlocks the greater (element) spell book in the Magic tech tree and every spell book unlocks spells that can be researched with arcane knowledge he is forced to make a choice in every game.
The problem is if the change to spellbooks is made now, it will be pointless because NOONE in their right mind will ever

> Improving the AI Part 1. There is a little (lot) of confusion on the AI. Minor factions aren’t supposed to build. They’re just there. I think we’ll have to change that to either make it more obvious that they don’t do anything (like change the style of city to be more obvious) or have them behave more like major factions. MAKE THEM LIKE MAJOR FACTIONS! Please. Either that or remove them from the game. Right now they

Two remarks: Levelling up doesn't give the same output to all stats if I'm correct. You'll get +3 or +2 depending on the stat, so you may want to think about that before picking your points. Taking 10 or less hp is ok with the current moronic ai, but if you do this against a half clever evil player, his spy withh the unresistible 10 damage to all units on the battlefield spell, or a fire giant with the guaranteed 9 damage fire breath (shorter ranged) will mean your sovereign w
ai silliness aside of course
You do realise many people will be unable to find the game remotely interesting with the moronic ai that's in at the moment? I can't see how it could play fantastic when whatever you do you can't lose unless you really want to commit suicide, and thus there is no challenge.

Thanks Brad and Boogie for your posts. I've been refraining from writing an actual review (with a mark) for Elemental despite being asked to, and the guy at the website who asked me also wondered whether we shouldn't wait for 1.1. I think the industry at large understands the game is unfinished and still has potential. Which is why it's a such a waste. I also disagree with the fact that having waited wouldn't have resulted in a better launch. There was ONE big problem
It's ridiculous paying for everything with the same points pool.
I agree for equipment, but definitely not for the rest. Several games do that. Arcanum was that way for instance if I remember well. The issues I agree with are the fact that default sovereigns all have the same books (plsu life or death, which in itself is a bug as you can end up with both life and death books if you play f.e. Procipinee of the Kraxen), and the cost of equipment. Equipment prices

+1 to the need of seeing the name of the faction when hovering over units. Coat of arms is mostly worthless in terms of conveying information. I also got confused on colors, although that's not as often since I rarely have more than one neighbour at once.

The neoseeker review is quite fun.
it seems the publication in question expected the game to be 100% stable on their exact configuration on day one or else it's a disaster. Anyway, it's now up to their standards, so even the naysayers should be satisfied.
Now up to their standards of 100% stable? Still crashing every 2 hours for me and still unstable on many systems looking at the support threads.
Easy to learn
Yeah, sure. Did we play th

Let's be fair here. All we can do at this point is to average the reviews thus far and give it a grade. So let's see: Neoseeker: .90 1 Up: .77 (C+) Out of 8: .625 (5/8) GameEnema: .6 (6/10) Average = .72 (C -) Add to this the hungarian review of .57 and the French of .3, which was mentioned earlier and you just dismissed without gi

I picked a 'random guardian unit' choice when levelling up a city just to see what I'd get and I got a champion unit. The name of the unit was 'champion'. She had 1 essence, an attack of 1, defense of 0, 12 hits. She also was not a champion, meaning no equipment, no ability to enter lairs/quest locations. She moved fast, but that was all she had going for her, along with a retaliate ability meaning she had a whooping 2 attack when striking back at opponents. If the game gives you a ch
7. To those reviewing the game: I would urge you to review the game prior to v1.1. I say this because v1.05 (the release day version) is the version of the game that was originally released and if that version of the game is considered flawed then my view is that Stardock should suffer the consequences for that. We appreciate the kindness and patience many people have shown. I just think game studios, including Stardock, need to be conscious of what they release and not expect to "pat

You're right, why should I be unhappy about a game which crashing after 2 hours of play max, and which gives me FAR FAR FAR LESS modding power than Civ IV? If you want a moddable game, Civ IV is superior. Elemental may become a good game and a good platform but right now it is neither. It should have been released in december, that's about all there is to say.

Just send a stack in the woods and kill wolves, spiders... That should net you 20 or more gildar per turn on average, considering the spawn rates and you can't kill one pack every turn.
