Kyro = Kryo. Stupid typos.

Check the properties on your shortcut - the command line path, specifically. I mean, I know running the exe works for you, but I wonder if there's something wacky about what the launcher is aiming at.
You can buy TA separately - I know I did a bit over a week ago.
Try running GC2DarkAvatar.exe ? Try starting it up from Stardock Central?
The first time I played, they wiped out the Drengin ahead of me by half a turn...the bastards. Once I just hit turn over and over again to see if the Altarians would do anything to the Drengin, and they just built starbases until the Drengin came to invade my one world.
Also, on the "sometimes it's too good, sometimes it's not good enough," thing? Sometimes I find a PQ 18 planet with two precursor archives close to my homeworld, and sometimes I never see a bonus tile. So what? Sometimes random favors you, sometimes it doesn't. That doesn't make Creative overpowered unless it favors you in every single game.
I've played many hundreds of turns over a handful of games with Creative over the past week, and I just haven't seen this happen 1/4 of the time.
Also, isn't there a hotkey to generate a new map if the starting situation sucks? I've never used it, but I recall Brad mentioning it in one of his AARs.
Okay! I didn't see anything after I scrolled down on one of the pages and saw GalCiv 1 available for $44.95. Mild hilarity ensued.
I check the wiki for something at least once a day. Now (after reading the bugs and requested features) I'm wishing that they'd just axe ship designs from the tech tree entirely, and unlock appropriately sized templates when you research the technology to build that hull size. Plus, integrate Kyro's hull mod as part of the game. I don't ask for much, honest. :)
I wasn't offended, I'm irritated at the campaign game and took it out on you. I apologize for that. And I do agree that the AI is great in sandbox games, and some of the time in the campaigns.
Actually, was Altarian Prophecy ever sold separately from GalCiv 1? The only copy I ever saw in stores was both installments. I know you could buy it separately online, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Install Stardock for the DLL, and see if you can also install GalCiv 1 in addition to AP.
I've been picking it out of habit from GalCiv 1, in the hopes that if I played often enough, I could see it do something. When I played the Iconians in TA for the first time, I was getting a huge number of Creative procs. I haven't had such a perfect storm since, so I'd hesitate to assume this was normal. It was interesting to see, and I rather like Creative as it is now (how it usually plays out, that is).
Altarian Prophecy is an expansion for the first Windows GalCiv. So you need to purchase the game on [link="https://www.galciv1.com/purchase.asp"]this page[/link] to be able to run it. Of course, you'll then end up with two serials for Altarian Prophecy, so it might be better to go somewhere like [link="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-3301487-6197400?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Galactic+Civilizations"]this page[/link] where you can possibly find Galactic Civilizations or the ul
I think most forum homepages provide links to sites that will support their software, too. And most such sites are fairly inexpensive. [link="http://www.phpbb.com/"]phpBB might be worth checking out.[/link]
Thank you. My games were getting bogged down and I hadn't thought to rearrange those particular settings.
I don't know what planet you're coming from, it may just be radically different galaxy settings, but Stellar Cartography means the ultimate difference between Victory and Defeat in a great many situations. For instance, immense galaxy, rare stars, uncommon planets: send a colony ship on a 25-week journey to an empty star. Even WITH the tech, you can stumble on class 0 systems.
After I read this post last night, I started up a gigantic game, five opponen
Ha! Thank you. :) They never bother me like this in sandbox play. Now, why the hell did I post this twice? :(
Sure, but it would be possible for AIs to distinguish between teams and alliances. I mean, if "team" simply meant "don't build influence starbases in teammate territory," that'd be a great start. I don't know if that's the best solution, but it'd be nice if they could recognize they're in a team and behave accordingly. Also, am I not supposed to point out where the game does frustrating things? Is the AI unassailable because it is so good in sandbox games?
In GalCiv 1, I had a game like that...set in a small or medium galaxy, with the Drengin and Arceans. I'd just colonized a planet I needed, and got an event - good choice was -30 or 40% PQ, neutral was -10% or more, and evil was about as high as it would go, so I picked evil...and naturally, one evil pick dropped me to evil, at which point the Arceans declared war on me for being mean. I barely managed to get my military to the point that they were willing to accept a peace treaty, and the next t
Awesome. :)
I'm sorry, I meant team AI, as in "you can't ever break this alliance" in the campaign missions. If it were allies in a sandbox game, I wouldn't really worry about it - it's going into a scenario where you're supposed to take out a third player (the Drengin) and your ally rushes to colonize all the planets and succeeds (I have to take +speed to have a chance to get the good planet in the center) and then uses them to beam propaganda at you instead of building up any kind of military to fight the
I was trying to build up some influence along my shared border with the Terrans because their influence was spreading into my space, but that became fairly pointless as I couldn't put enough influence in the starbases. I guess the thing is, there should be something Yor can do with influence starbases, even if it's not cultural maximization. And the other thing is that the mining starbases are completely gimped, with only two mining modules available. Economic is okay, but doesn't have
Yeah, I can't find the omega mod, either. I read in another thread that it was removed from Filefront for IP violations?
Okay, is it just me or are the Altairians the worst allies ever? I've played on several different difficulty settings, and in the first scenario alone they're only not an obstacle on the lowest settings. On the higher settings, they beat me to colonizing the central system on the map, and then they sit around and build starbases around my homeworld and otherwise ignore the Drengin, and the Drengin ignore them. Okay, why are teammates (in an unbreakable alliance) building influ
