Thanks greenpower, the link to your blog alone was worth the post! Very nice blog, excellent! Bookmarked it and will check in weekly or so. Think this project got started shortly after the Master of Orion III disappointment, but I had not looked at it since. Now, it is looking rather good! I will download it and try it out later today. My first MoO was Master of Orion 2, Battle at Antares. FreeOrion has much better graphics, much much better. Can't wait to try the game

No balance problems compared to any other game's balance problems. Nor any other problems, really.
Check also sound drivers. Do you get sound stuttering and dropouts as the game proceeds? Latest version of DirectX 9.0c. For some reason the game seems to be creating giant files on disk which is why it takes so long to exit. This happened to me once with another game because of sound drivers. Go to www.impulsedriven.com, and then download Stardock's Impulse. Register your game on there, and you will be able to download the latest update, 1.17. Another thing to
I would read the official forums carefully. On YouTube there are some good "Let's Play Empire Total War" videos by JosefVStalin that are quite good. I think he mentions the issues but is overall pleased with the game. Those are good videos. JosefVStalin, for those who don't know about him, is quite a character (he really is a Stalinist!) and he does very good game videos, at least in my opinion. Looking at some of that, I found myself liking the overworld, but thinking
Remember also to use the Pause key to stop at first and look over the situation. - and = will speed up or slow down the game. Do the tutorials, do them twice! You get your first capital ship for for free. So build a capital ship factory first thing. As soon as it is complete, build a capital ship. The one that colonizes is good to start with, but you can build what you want. Send the cap ship to capture a planet or an asteroid. It can handle the little fleets that surround the
Me neither. I put the most ominous interpretation on all this.
Don't despair though, because Fraser says that Ironclad wants to release a few special things that "have nothing to do with patches, upgrades, or expansions." He added that there was content taken out for reasons such as the ESRB that he would love to release without "stirring up trouble." They had to take out some asteroids because they had various lewd and perverse shapes.
Zehdon, I don't have Spore or Galactic Adventures. I have been watching the series hoping that someday it lives up to its original design goals. I did watch all the tutorial videos on youtube for Galactic Adventures. I was very impressed. This same system could be used in any number of games to create special instances or adventures. As implemented at the moment, six "acts" seems to be too limiting. Plus no "map triggers" from what I could tell. Give it another year, s
Quick google for "xps video problem" gave a number of links. What model number is your xps? Can you run any other games?
What is the problem? Why did he not just log onto WoW and go to The Barrens chat where he would have been appreciated?
Well, you make a good product and it gets praise from one and all. Ironclad has made a very good product, so it gets the praise it deserves. Reviews in general ... well it is wise to pay attention to mention of bugs, technical issues, gameplay flaws and omissions. But I would not cease to play a game simply because professional reviewers don't give it a high score.
Gameguard? Welcome to hell. None of that here neither.
Transfusion, there is one (1) replay for the current Sins 1.17. Click Download at the top of this forum, then Download Replays. Choose Sort By Last Updated if it is not already selected. The one you want is 1v2 unfair Advent AI by viewport, dated June 26, 2009. I watched about the first half hour of it, pretty good. There might be other current replays lurking around somewhere, but I haven't seen them.
Attention span of a duck? BTW, official sticky post on the english anno 1404 forum for today says the Tages DRM servers are down again! They are sorry about this, etc. Sounds like a good time for Stardock to preach unto them the true Impulse religion!
Get the X3 Reunion demo.
Yes, it is fun, Island Dog and thanks for the screenies. Even the Nintendo DS and Wii versions are getting good reviews. I only have the demo at the moment. Even though I like it, I will probably wait a long while before buying the game itself. Two reasons, first is the DRM and second is there seems to be some omissions at the moment. 1. The Tages DRM: is either a game breaker or an annoyance depending. At the moment, purchasers cannot activate the game they bought because the
Since we will be getting a huge flood of details, not to worry. I think what I and others had asked was for a simple news post weekly about what was going on. We got one! Yay! "changes to the Sins of a Solar Empire website so that players can participate with the development of it" -- lots of details then!
Here is the Ubisoft statement about Tages copy protection on Dawn of Discovery, aka Anno 1404. The official Anno 1404 forums in English are at this link. http://forums-de.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/5251042375 Do I need to be online to play the game? No. After the game is activated, the PC does no need to be online to play. Do I need to be online to activate my game? No, if you gaming PC is not online, you have the possibili
I will amend "I'm probably going to get it" to I might get it. Eventually. Sort of stream of consciousness of the moment. The DRM is annoying, but even three activations will probably last me until such time as the game has dropped in price to where it doesn't matter much; or Ubisoft has gone bankrupt. In the latter case, midnight requisition would seem to be in order. Then too, the game is good enough that it will get patches and perhaps an expansion pack down the line. Patience is a
Well, I'm probably going to get it. Hopefully, the following is helpful info on the game. 1. It is listed on Impulse for purchase. $49 and change. So you can buy it here; but, yes, the Impulse version does have the same DRM. As does the Steam version too I think. Why did they not just distribute via Impulse in the first place? Sigh. 2. There is a DEMO. I couldn't find the DEMO listed on Impulse, but it is available from various other sources. http://www
High-tech witches is what they are! Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live! ... And usually they don't.
At first, don't overstress the micro management of battles. The game philosophy is to let the AI take care of most of it. Later on, yes.
Rocky, I'm not in the beta. I've looked at the game videos and it is very visually impressive. No doubt of it. It looks wonderful! However ... just my reaction ... The game will retail for $49 and change. Then, best I can tell from web flogging, there will be a $15 per month fee to play. Just me, but with video game sales currently down 25% it seems like a poor time to introduce a new game with a monthly fee. Now if I were going to lay out that kind of money per month I would rather p

Well, based on Sins of a Solar Empire, Galactic Civilizations 2, and Master of Orion 2 and 3 ... Sins is going to be real hard to improve on as it continues to develop. Human-Computer VS Human-Human experience: Human vs computer is primary for me. Free content with paid extensions VS Paid to use: Pay once, pay for expansions. Paying for time, or nickel and dime formulas are going to get very few customers. You are not dealing with the Maple Story venue here. Reward sys
