I play on the large maps - and almost every one I generate is a long, winding narrow land mass that meanders all over creation. I have yet, out of 20+ games, had a map that feels like a large continent. I'd be interested in hearing what others are experiencing in this aspect? Also, are there ever oceans or is all the land always connected? I have always had the entire map connected - which makes little sense. Are there

If you don't start with any spell books I am not seeing any new spells become available in the game in the current beta. There isn't anything that seems to say where to get new spells. Researching level only seems to make available the few spells listed initially as unavailable. Am I missing something here. It seemed like beta 3 gave me access to more spells through research and quests. (goodie huts)
Never been attacked by a stack with archers in it? Armour would be nice then,eh? But a helmet alone isn't too useful.
This should read: Bug: Allowed to have more than one pack. :)
I agree, I almost feel that I have to name my cities things like "gold town" "food ville" and "Alexandria" in order to know what they need when they level up.
I had one (read: only) of my champions up and vanish on me after a fight. I don't know exactly what turn it was because i didn't notice until the next fight that he wasn't in the stack. He had a bow and was never engaged in melee in the last fight i had him in. (all the enemy bow users died without shooting.)
Has anyone else noticed in "out of the box" version 4 that huge stack of bandits start appearing very early? By turn ~20 or so my Sov starts coming across stacks of 7 bandits roaming around out in the wild, needless to say, he is no match for them. There are no other critters to fight and they jump me so i cannot go past them. I've started 2 games so far with the same results, I played the first until the hordes started razing my cities. Meanwjhile one of the NPCs is methodicall

There is an option in the settings to auto end turn.
FYI: Manually changing the prefs.ini to the correct resolution allows me to play with the correct screen size.
I did back in the early days when I reported the problem the first time around, it was fixed long ago. Now it's back. In any case here is the debug from the last crash... As you can see it identifies both displays, display 1 is the main. This whole game is about abstract, that's why there aren't 16 different kinds of wood and 20 different metals to worry about.
i have noticed some of the things not showing up on the build menu, but if you click on the tile in question, it gives you the option of building.
Maybe if you think of the resource as trainers it will work better. Neither horses nor wargs are like minerals, to be mined at a particular spot. They are animals that can be bred and trained in many places with the right resources, and the riders also need to be trained. So the spots on the map simply represent the availability of cavalry, not the spot where it pops out of the ground.
One problem that frequently crops up in betas is when you have several different branches of your development repository bugr get fixed on one branch and never make it to other branches, thus never make it into the final releases. You have programmers and designers standing around thinking they've already fixed problems, and they, or other people, have to go in and fix them a second or third time, or not at all. And beta testers are thinking "we reported that and they fixed it, why is
I have seen the same issue. One thing I noticed is that the autosaves will load, just not the named same game files.
i didn't have any success with the auto saves either, but i only tried once.
The one i had was the starting intro champion at .5
It seems like not all of the bug fixes from previous versions made it in to this one.
What are the other units combat speeds? I noticed when i had a guy with
As usual game discards all video settings every new update and pick something other than my desktop size as "default" now i cannot make it work. I have two monitors. full-screen mode displays on main screen, but will only take resolution of secondary monitor. windowed mode will only display on secondary monitor. if I use tool to force window to correct monitor the cursor tracking is off by a fair amount. (~2 cursor widths maybe) game unplayable
Quoting Elurian, reply 99I'm not crazy about arcane/divine/psionic etc. in the core game, but it would make a lot of sense to have the "key stat" that determines a spell's power be a flag that can be easily altered for purposes of modding. Yeah, although I could see Divine/Mental/Other being great xpack items. There was an Armageddon, so chances are some civilizations got totally isolated with no shards and had to make do.
There's a manual? Where? I have a town in the newest build, when i created a new game it just put in a town, no choice. it had both fertile ground and enriched within two squares of the city. I cannot build any food producing items, they do not show up greyed out, they do not show up at all. I have both harvesting and farming.
Argh! Started with city next to enriched land and fertile land... cannot build any food growing improvements, even though i have the tech. :(
