I pre-ordered (download + box) but I haven't seen any options to download the game yet when I logged into Impulse, not even for an update. Perhaps it's just for beta people?
Exactly the same story for me, except I am only digital download. But been here since beta 1, uninstalled beta 4 as recommended, and no update.
And it's not even the 1.01, it is the 1.00 gold version thats up on Impulse...I got soooo excited when Impulse told me there was an update available. Evil, evil Stardock. To mess with people like that.
The "evil" part is that when I was trying to run Beta 4 to continue my game, It said something along the lines "New update is available, it is HIGHLY recommendable to install it" and ... well, no Beta 4, no v.1.0 game :(
I have 1.85GB update available (v.1.0). Remembering about "clean install" recommendation, I have uninstalled beta 4, but no I can not install the v1.0 game because of the same problem - key is wrong. So, now I am without beta 4 and can not install new update :(
I suspect that shards are expected to be very rare in any world, usually one or at most two shards per shard type IN THE WHOLE GAME WORLD. So I do not think it is a problem. It may be though problematic for the modes which rely on large number of shards. In this case I would put numerical value if number of shards is greater than 5, or use larger shard to signify each 5 shards.

One of the things that is missing in most of the strategy games and missing in ALL RTS TBS games that I am aware off is the ability to set up matches of AI vs. AI. For whatever reason I enjoy doing it. Moreover I hope that we will be able to produce custom AI and include into game. We can even have a competition who writes the best AI. Something like that was done in Kohan (RTS). I still remember those superiour AIs wrote by community
Is there any sense for us to continue to find and report beta 4 bugs and crashes?
I can confirm, that later in the game I was able to build the air shrine outside the blue line, and still can not build farm.
Had another similar freeze, but this time just moving units around, trying to understand how to group/ungroup them. Again, I played long time before this happen.
I have minimized the game and put computer to slip. Then woke it up and maximized the game and exit from the game. The game crashed. Actually the sound stopped working as well even after crash - need to restart computer. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5009476/Crash3/Elemental0_98-2010-08-17T23-59-33-862.zip
I do not know if this is bug or what, but it is VERY confusing for me. I do not know what fields can be worked by the city. This is VERY important when you make a new city, one HAS to understand what is reachable by it and what is not. In the example below, I would think that I should not be able to access the air shard - it is outside of the sphere of influence, yet, the build interface shows that I CAN build it (if I had money that is, it is gray because I do not have 100g). At the sa
The game has frozen and did not create any error file when I pressed the end of turn button while my units were still moving (did not finish their turn).
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5009476/Crash2/Elemental0_98-2010-08-16T23-43-40-227.zip I just clicked on one of the units to attack it, and it crashed. I did play about 1 hour before that without any problems. Edit: Sorry initially it was wrong file attached.

It was always "oh, Stardock internal build is several iterations ahead of what you have, so do not judge the game, just check for the bugs" - kind of thing.
Seriously guys, this is a beta. I know you probably don't want to hear it but we are beta testers and our goal was intended to find bugs and errors so Stardock can correct them. I liked that game a lot, but I didn't pick it up until after it had been out for a bit.
While it was definitely playable, for me it was not very enjoyable because lots of help messages were missing, and some mechanics was not clear. I do remember significant patches later on.
Well there's a reason to test a more finished product beyond just as an advertising stunt, and that's so you actually test things like balance, AI, gameplay, whether certain things feel like a chore, etc. This is generally considered to be vitally important in a strategy game where tragic flaws are not always readily visible to a small handfull of internal testers.
With release date set on Aug 24, there is no way they w
...but I disagree with your point that it is only now that the game is starting to shape into a beta.Honestly the word beta has been warped in the industry to indicate not a testing phase, but a preview to the game, where 'beta testers' dont really test anything, they just play the game. Stardock clearly still holds to the true belief that a beta is precisely a testing phase, where players are meant to encounter bugs, graphical glitches, and crashe
