I'd love to see Stardock to a turn-based tactical of some form with more of a classic feel. XCOM:EU is a good game but it deviates so much from the classic formula that it doesn't quite scratch that classic itch, and most other entries in this field end up being weak, unfinished, buggy, and/or created by companies that are about 1/100th as awesome as SD. But more than anything, I want to see GalCiv 3. GC2 is still one of the best space 4X (with the g

Great read and congrats.
Saying that Stardock of all companies isn't providing value is one of the dumber things a person could ever say. They take care of their customers better than anybody, and continue adding free stuff to games after release better than most, and patch to improve games, not just to make them playable, often by adding entirely new features and at the least lots of tweaks to the game to make it better. My mind is blown. It's a sad day when somebody would dare to critici
Buy directly from developers when possible (so that they get the money) and buy from Steam itself otherwise (sometimes you can get steam keys for less from reputable sources and sometimes you run into scam sites that want to infect your pc with viruses and steal your children...why screw around and take chances). I used to hate Steam but now I love it and I buy most of my games thru it. I prefer to buy directly from developers when possible so that they get t
The reduction of exp is: 2 Champions = -50%, 3 Champions = -33% etc. and then evenly applied to every unit in that army, including regular units and fantastic creatures.
Hmm, that sucks and never noticed. I often put 2 heroes in an army for periods of time, not for the uber, since it usually isn't, but moreso to get some xp for weaker heroes to help make them useful. <
Most excellent. As a spoiled and long time Stardock game purchaser/player I expect the amazing continued support and expansion of Stardock games (and I buy the DLCs to show my love) but I still wanted to say that I appreciate the way Stardock takes care of their games and fans. You guys are the best.
In WoM you could escape by running away. They've removed that feature before FE was released.
...and I'm glad because games like this don't need extra cheese.
Quoting GFireflyE, reply 15) Very intersting point about there not being enough Commander heroes available for the later Fame levels. This point kinda bugs me about the current iteration of the heroes system. I don't mind the playing the hand that is dealt to me mindset but it seems every game I get the heroes that I only want 1 or 2 of (defender, assassin, warrior) and never what I want (governers) I end up devouring my later
I would like to see the AI polished more and it's kind of sad that it has to be an after action item to clean up simple stuff like the AI focusing fire for swarm attacks or prioritizing obvious targets. I'm not that great of a player and immediately grasped how ludicrously overpowered the swarm mechanic is - the AI should be locked in to maximizing it like crazy (otherwise it gives the player a ridiculous advantage). You would think that even the most basic testing/pl
I had the same thought (that you could build groups of 3 and upgrade to 6 for gildar only and save a ton of resources...150g vs 3x the metal, crystal, etc would be pretty huge savings) but haven't tried it yet - I tend to not exploit either. I'm guessing it can be done since that's how the unit size upgrades work.
Sounds like your computer needs help, you SHOULD be concerned, because if a game this solid is crashing that much your PC could have a serious problem. I've had 1 or 2 CTDs and probably helped those by running mp3's while playing and/or alt tabbing incessantly. I haven't really noticed any bugs (and I'm a bit hypercritical about stuff like that as a coder myself).
I found the manual PDF the game's folder, but finding that with a steam install is a little wonky due to how steam sets up apps.
3. Food is local, so that you cannot trade surplus between cities -- correct?
There are some town improvements that affect food empire-wide. The behavior for this is different, that's for sure. I can't think of any other similar games I've played where you didn't move into a tile after beating an enemy on the tile. I actually kind of like it this way but I can understand that others may not. I'm an LH nub but the way I see it: - time to build study is longer than time to build other structures you also want/need early, particularly +production, +economy magnified by: - long research times aren't a big deal early since you can already research and unlock new things to build faster than you can build (or afford) them (making +prod and +econ stand out even more) &nb
For me the best part of the first video is when your kid in the background asks if you're talking to yourself. Color me snob but I can't watch anything beyond the first since watching videos in less than 720p is barbaric. I enjoyed the commentary on the gameplay too. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
Based on the OP I'd say the designers did a decent job. :P The idea is that you build your empire the way YOU want to so there's lots of choices and shouldn't be a clear path to use by default. Outside of doing what you want you obviously need to react to the circumstances of any given match and there are some basics that apply to the genre as a whole, such as production is always a good thing (build faster) and money
No complaints here. Frankly, I'd be perfectly happy with *no* scenarios. The sandbox is where I'm spending (literally) all of my time. I've never played a scenario in civ, for ex, and I've avoided buying quite a bi
I would rather see the game released in a state that works for the majority than see it need to be fixed via modding. Seriously? The game is still in development. This thread is garbage (unless Stardock pulls from it as suggestions). Don't you think it's slightly arrogant and insulting to proclaim that you can do a better job than a whole team of devlopers and designers on their own game - that's still in development - from one of the better companies as
I haven't played enough to say for sure. I have had several saved games end up corrupted though. It usually involved brutal game crashes that I sent on per sticky instructions.
I prepurchased early and have played in every beta and stress event. GW2 is amazing fun. Loaded with gorgeous, diverse, and fun content. I'll be online the moment the servers come up, which they say might be early by up to 3 hours (ArenaNet seems as excited to get this rolling as players are), so 9PM PST...tomorrow. /headexplodes I have the week off and labor day off, so 10 days of playing like a fiend. I have about 10 friends starting up at
Turning off auto turn works wonders here, IMO. When you have to click or hit enter to end your turn, you're more concious of scanning the screen for those "zzz" idle signs or notifications on the right since you're more likely to think "am I ready to end this turn?" You also have that distinct changing of the turn so you more readily look for those new notifications on the right (along with the "zzz" idle shows up at the beginning of turns). The existing notifica
I don't really need to make up a bunch of arbitrary numbers to say that FE is improving on WOM across the board. But whatever floats your galleon.
I've had a similar experience - killed a really hard mob, got a reward I couldn't use for 5-6 levels, seems kind of lame.
