Yes I uninstalled and reinstalled the multimedia pack. Still the same. I am going to wait for the 1.1 patch and see what happens. Then I will probably bite the bullet and update my sound drivers. Hopefully it won't ruin the computer like the last time.... Anyway, it is a tiny thing. The game is too much fun to really care about this stuff. The Dread Lords are too tough to worry about music. LOL.

So do some of the races share a personality? Since technically there are 10 playable races and the Dread Lords that would leave 2 personalities that would need to be duplicative if there are nine unique ones. I am just curious. I think that having this many unique AI personalities is one of the things that make this game great. I apologize if this has already been gone over. Thank you.
In response to post #91: I apologize if the wording up my post (#90) caused a stir. I hope it didn't seem like a directive or anything. I just wanted to put a vote in on one of the possible options that was brought forth in the original posting. I am fine with what exists right now. But if it is said that a couple of options are being looked at as possible changes to the system then I think constructive feedback on which option is preferre
I would like to put my support behind having individual control over each of the 3 types of production being used. (military, social, and research) This in my opinion would give greater control over how things are spent and allow for creative ways to run a deficit/surplus. The way I would implement it in the interface would just take out the current 4 sliders (total spending, and % of each prod type) and replace with a slider for % of spendi
I have always had the event music option checked. (double checked to be sure) The music plays for movies. (at least the ones I have seen) All the music in the Event music folder plays on a mp3 player. One (event.mp3) is a duplicate of another (MW.mp3). It is only a couple that don't play for some reason. I am thinking they were left out either intentionally or by accident. They are old music files from the original game so they may have left it out of the game intentionally and left it in the fo
I am using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2. I got my computer a little less than a 1.5 years ago so the drivers may be a tad old.
Apologies if these have been mentioned before. Here is what I have found so far: The default Tiny Terran Hull has a couple of misaligned hardpoints. At least one is impossible to fix. I am sure there are some others on different hulls, but this one shows up pretty early. An official way of allowing more control over how hardpoints are realligned would solve the issue. When calculating ship strength mining starbases often are pronounced the strongest. While mostly
I played again with the latest patch and confirmed that there was no event music during an espionage announcement or a moral/ethical event. Also no music for when a race declares war on you. This is interesting because there are music files in the event music folder that correspond to these things. It may be just something that has not been activated yet. It is a small thing. No worries.
I have a question pertaining to event music. In the games I have played so far the music that should pop up at certain times like espionage reports, moral events, etc doesn't seem to be playing. It plays the background music fine. I have checked the volume controls. I am just wondering if anyone else has seen this and if there is an easy fix. (For instance if the X10 patch clears it up since this is X09 and prior.) I hesitate to update my sound drivers since I have had bad
I feel compelled to mention a few things. First the feature that sets GalCiv2 apart from the rest of the pack the most is its AI. To have resources diverted from that strength to horseshoe in a feature that arguably only a small percentage of the population would use is ludicrous. The main reason multiplayer is sought out in the 4X genre at all is because the AI is substandard and/or too predictable. With good AI that need is not there. Playing an MMORPG, an FPS or even an
First of all let me say this is a great game. A game where the AI both doesn’t cheat and plays to win instead of only trying to defeat you is a groundbreaking endeavor that should be commended and encouraged. Kudos. If you are tweaking the AI here is what I have noticed. (apologies if they have already been mentioned ad infinitum) I have seen the AI place multiple starbases with no upgrades around the map. I am not sure that a bare bones starbase even provides any kind of b
Hello, I would like to put in my vote for the following items that have most likely been suggested already: 1. A way for the player and the AI opponents to vote for or otherwise influence what will be voted on in a UP council. 2. Adding the ability to request removal of ships, colonies and/or star bases from a sector in the diplomatic audience screen. 3. Adding a screen that breaks down lease costs/schedules and tribute costs/schedules. 4. Creating a hyperlink to a
Hello, This is halfway between a bug and a suggestion so I thought I would post in both threads. Anyway, I noticed that when you conquer the final planet of another race it plays a nice cut scene, but if you also did other things that create popup windows like inherit a tech from the colony you just conquered then it puts the popup over the cut scene and plays the popup’s music mixed in with the cut scene’s music. This most likely occurs since this cut scene was added later.

Hello, I would like to make a suggestion related to how star bases are treated in the fog of war. This has probably already been pointed out, but right now they are treated like ships in that they disappear as soon as a player no longer has any assets in sensor range. I would suggest that since star bases are immobile to treat them like planets where its location and condition, as a player’s sensors last recorded it, stays visible through the gray fog of war and on the star-map. W
Hello, Here is something that I don’t believe has been suggested already(if so I apologize): How about tying each star base to a colony with a line of supply like a trade route? Say that each colony can support X amount of star bases that maybe depends on planet quality, population, economy or production (whichever makes the most sense) and which can be improved with various researched Techs. In addition to this global upper limit that can grow as your empire gro
Hello, Here are a few typos I thought I would share. Most may have already been pointed out but the bug list here is way to large to read and from what I have seen a few of these at least may not have been mentioned before. All are under the abilities section of the empire creation screen and are as follows: Under Speed the last bit should probably be ‘maneuvering’ instead of ‘mauve ring’. Under Trade it should be ‘amount of money
Hello, I first want to say that this game is really fun and addictive. I especially like the level of post-release support it has gotten in terms of both updates and forum activity. Anyway, I know this thread is very old but it is related to a request that I have. It seems in earlier builds that the Drengins ships looked like the Arceans in color. Well, I was going to say that now the Drengins ship color is very close to the Torians. Sure the Torians are a brighter green a
