The usual answer was that they couldn't judge since they didn't have the full game. Which was weird.
There was some mystical internal 'Beta 5' that only Stardock had access to and completely redid the UI, and some other stuff. That was never properly beta-tested, which is a shame indeed.

This has actually been around since the very first beta, but it's still annoying that when in Fullscreen mode the cursor is not contained in the window on dual monitor setups. This means that when trying to edge-scroll the cursor instead moves out of the window which is quite annoying. On top of that, if I accidentally click on the other monitor and go back the game crashes. I think this might be related to alt/tab bugs. I have included a crash report for good measure. <a title="Dropb
This happened when building a city on the first turn, and before advancing the turn, click the Govern City screen. Seems like an integer overflow to me :) Or a division by zero gives a MAX_INT, not sure :P
I'm going on a limb here and say that this bug still exists in [0.24] [e digicons]:)[/e]
You mean like or That would be useful yes :)
How is the PC version? I hear RE4 was quite crappy on PC, the game itself i apparently like since i have it for both PS2 and Gamecube
Well it's recommended you play with an Xbox 360 controller. I think that says enough [e digicons];P[/e]
If your firewall app is hanging things up due to task-switch issues at startup, you can manually set windowed mode in the prefs.ini file located in My Documents\My Games\Elemental.
I have also seen some games that connect to their servers on first startup, before any fullscreen work is done. That way you can deal with firewall popups first. In the final build, that might be a more gamer-friendly solution :)
I found that on most dialogs, like the one when you find loot, when you press [Enter], the window closes. However on the Daily Report screen it actually advances the turn without closing the window, while I expected the window to close here as well.

Already there are good improvements all around [e digicons]\o/[/e]
Ha this would be a nice addition and simple to implement :)
Well this first beta iteration is mostly to test if it will run on your computer. Starting around October 1st, gameplay will be implemented step by step and I expect that we will get some specific instructions to look at then. As for a readme, some players have set up a Wiki outlining some of the basics.
Well I do trust Stardock to deliver a good product, they have a reputation to uphold :) Plus I'm glad that I preordered, I was charged only 35 euros [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
Erm, ESC->Main Menu->Exit?
As far as 'offensive' names go, this isn't so bad. There's a radio station called KUT , which in Dutch is an offensive word for a certain part of the female reproductive system... :P It's hard to get names that in all languages mean nothing :)
I also hope the OP wasn't serious. I found the intro to be wonderful. If you don't like it, you can always hit esc/space to bypass it.
Or set the option to skip it everytime, but that doesn't seem to work yet [e digicons][/e]
quoting postThe entry movie is too corny, and it's also way too pixelated... please make a different one for each beta, so i can file a new bug every time... But it is correct, it says: Net Loss : -8gp, which is a Net Gain of +8gp (double negative: loss, negative number). I will admit though that the wording could be clearer :) EDIT: on second thought, you should be losing money if you subtract the expenses from the income, hmm I guess someone's put a minus too many in the code :P
There's actually an option that lets you set the speed. By default it's 20, 300 should be a good speed :)
Disclaimer: not a bug report, just letting off steam if crashes and the like are getting the better of you ;) So twice now I have played a game somewhat beyond the first stages, and both times it just hang :( Had a couple of villages, a few units, major gold losses but overall things were going fine, until one village gained a level and I couldn't click the OK button in the message and nothing responded anymore, not even alt-tab. I ended up closing Elem
Anyways, thanks for your help - you guys rock! Thanks, but we definatly need to figure out why some systems aren't getting the fonts. Asking every user it manually install them is pretty amature hour.
I made a thread about it before I read the rest of the posts in this thread below the videos :) https://forums.elementalgame.com/364327/
Update: apparently this is solved by copying the fonts into the Windows/fonts directory but I still think they should load without extra work :)
So I noticed in that video Thrawn posted that the menu is supposed to have some custom fonts. On my screen it just looks like Arial: Dunno if you can reproduce it, but as bug reports go: observed: Arial text, expected: text with custom fonts :) DxDiag debug.err
Screenshot = PrtScrn, saves somewhere in My Documents. And I do believe you are actually the 4th person mentioning this ;) Please look around the other threads if your bug is already there :)
The Elemental community is very civilized and dare I say, respectful and intelligent.
I guess the fantasy-TBS type of game attracts that audience. You have to be more patient than DotA or CS-type games so in general the people here are a bit older/more mature :) I definitely like the goofy descriptions for the factions :p Plus the city names printed on the map looks very cool. :D
