Come on guys, there's a reason D&D didn't let mages wear armor. Gameplay decisions. If you add more initiative penalties to armor, it's not worth wearing! If you want armor, then go warrior or defender and still pick spell traits to cast some spells. Choose Warlock, pick up ring of ash/staff of souls/cloak of stars, you'll barely notice you're not a mage path.
+1 accept this design de

Btw they just released 0.87!
Your game autoupdates in Steam normally. Check the menuscreen in LH to see what version you are running.
Those changes sure make heroes more hero. Better chances of epic stuff to wear and more damage in general.
Interesting balance changes here. Looking forward to trying it out.
One of the biggest pet peeves I still have about the AI is the fact that it still does things players just wouldn't do, ever. 1) It sends out lone heroes into enemy territory. It just shouldn't do that. Only in peaceful times when you're levelling your hero he might be on his own. Otherwise always accompanied by troops. 2) It makes too many unit only stacks and no stacks of doom. Players only make a few stacks and try to make them as strong as possible. The AI shou
All the best Cari and thanks for the great times you've given us.
Who would have ever thought it would come to a thread like this. Encumbrance is gone, it won't return as there's no proper use for it, it only complicates all kinds of things. Life's much easier without it. Please leave it at that.
What version number shows after you loaded the game?
Yep, that seems to be it. Thanks for clearing that up Publius. Not a biggie, but needs to be fixed.
This was definitely a first for me. When scrolling the civ tree the text comes lose from where it should be.
Love the big changes showing up in the changlogs. It's good to be back in beta! ;)
That is scary! [e digicons]8C[/e] [e digicons]XD[/e]
Are there any plans to change the trees of the assassin, commander, defender and mage, too? I think the path of the commander is currently one of the most powerful and most boring paths, because the stat increasements are only passive. It would be better to make them active abilities like Command or Battle Cry.
It wouldn't hurt to make the commander path more active, though I DO like those passive abilities.</
Looks maybe yes, but mechanics are still very much AoW!
Guys check out this new vid. Very nice and very polished. Hopefully they'll organize a betatest. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/03/27/wunderbar-age-of-wonders-iii-first-footage/
Do I need to start new game with this patch?
No you don't. Continuing my 0.50 save without any problems. BTW I can confirm that pioneers still cost pop and not gold! Hurray!
It is released now! :) Just downloaded on my Steam.
Freeze and Tremor without a doubt! AI should really use these more often as it can really hurt the player wandering in enemy territory. Edit: pillar of flame is pretty good too.
Quoting DevildogFF, reply 15 Pioneers cost gold instead of population Wait, why? Why are we going away from the population requirement? I thought this was done to combat pioneer spamming? I don't get it.... They've been flip-flopping alot on this one. Problem is that pioneers costing population for cities is just right....but pioneers costing popul
Chiming in to fully agree! Love all the new features that make this a classic already and mind you we're only at version 0.5.
Agreed. The system as a whole is pretty awesome but especially warriors need some more interesting choices.
Question/possible bug: what's up with the rain sounds? Are we supposed to be seeing rain during the rain/thunder sounds? Because that would be awesome. Also, can you add an option to stop next turns with idle cities? Like, not a popup, but literally stop next turn? I'm really bad at that.
They added the yellow turn button for that. It works well for me.
Yes you can, LH is a stand alone expansion, so if you don't want to go back to FE, you can uninstall the game without 'harming' your LH install.
Thusfar things look great (almost 2 hours in). I noticed the injury not showing bug too. It looks like the AI is having harder time to get going. On hard I used to have a hard time to keep up with the AI, but I'm quite easily ahead now. Love: - Swarm, Impale, Cleave. Tactical combat is so much better now! - New city upgrades, growing your cities really pays off - The new levelling system -
