Applause Marigoldran - you didnt boast about your way being the best, but stated what is indeed a very good strat, and asked if it could be topped. But as colonizer sounds like it will be nerfed (I recall that on the dev stream as well), back to the drawing board [e digicons]:)[/e]
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

If you can create a good modding community that is EASILY ACCESSIBLE to the average computer illiterate Joe, your job is effectively done. Let the dozens of modders do their work. THIS IS THE MOST EFFICIENT PATH. ALL ELSE SHOULD BE SECONDARY. DEMOCRACY IS BETTER THAN DICTATORSHIP ON THE INTERNET. PUT YOUR BEST EFFORTS ALONG THIS LINE. (And I really really hope when you made this game your design philosophy was to make everything i

One of the biggest rationale for colony spam is the ability to get LOTS AND LOTS of otherwise difficult to get ideology points. Consequently, if there's a way to get ideology points efficiently WITHOUT having to colony spam it would be a soft nerf on colony spamming. As of now, there are only two ways to get lots of ideology points quickly: Zealot (ideology upon conquest) or Colony Spam. There should be other metho

1. Colonizer is pretty much outright superior to Engineering simply because it makes distance decay from shipyards irrelevant. EVERY colony can start with a shipyard with Colonizer if necessary. Consequently the only reason to choose Engineering is if you chose Colonizer also. 2. Naturally Colonizer is much stronger on larger maps with more planets to colonize. Consequently Colonizer is a trait that scales exponentially to numbers of habitable planets. On

Well, yeah. The major reason to take Patriotic so that I can expand and grow faster. The negative growth modifiers REALLY hurt without some way to boost morale. And all of the ways to boost morale is relatively expensive and bad in the early/mid game compared to prioritizing techs like Gaia Vortex or Hyperion Matrix tech. Also, taking Patriotic means I don't have to go down the Malevolent path and instead can prioritize an early Benevolence Level III +2 po

Oh yes. Late game is boring as heck after you've gotten to a dominating position. I've been recommending that the AI should gang up on you with massive secret negative diplo modifiers if that happens. The modders will probably the ones to change that. Hopefully they designed the game to be readily moddable like Skyrim....

Only if they're abusive or rude. Annoying on the other hand is the happy medium. There's a certain art to it. If you're too quiet, they ignore you but if you act too badly, they kick you out. The trick is to find the middle ground.
Use economic starbases and fill them with morale improvements. If it wasn't for that, the LEP would indeed be overpowered.
That's the OCD trap that I mentioned. Put it this way: on an immense map or larger it's easy to get 100+ colonies. Do you intend to put 3-5 starbases AROUND EACH ONE? I've calculated that it would take 7 hours to do only that. And on larger maps, yo

I too am generally ok with the state of the game. ON THE OTHER HAND THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT CAN'T GET BETTER. [e digicons]>:([/e] [e digicons]>:([/e] [e digicons]>:([/e] [e digicons]>:([/e] I'm allowed to complain like this. After all, I'm a customer.

LOL, early alpha.... The game mechanics are still at that stage but the game is not. Most of the technical bugs have been ironed out and the game runs correctly (for the most part). This is probably exactly what the developers intended so by their metrics things are going well. And since I bought the game, who am I to disagree? On the other hand just because the technical issues are (mostly) resolved, that doesn't mean they get a free pass on the ga
I don't agree with you at all. You say you have to use these perks, opinion. You say LEP is too large, opinion. I am stating that approval bonuses are not calculated properly, and that can be exhibited with the simple fact that higher tech buildings are far less useful than low tech buildings.
Semantics. The morale system currently has MAJOR issues as the author of this thread point
Ill side with Dansiegel30 on this one. I do not currently like playing with LOTS of colonize-able planets because our current UI makes managing them a chore. Approval is not really an issue since you can succeed anyway without high approval it just takes more time as your colonies sloooooooow down compared to happy ones. However, I do know many players prefer INSANE+SUPERABUNDANT+MULTITUDES = Fun for Seilore. <br
Wrong! There are plenty of micromanagement problems that make me not play with 150 planets. Approval would be very low on my list of issues with insane map games. But that's my opinion, as you have yours.
But... you did just agree with me. To deal with LEP on larger maps without Malevolent II or Patriotic requires massive amounts of starbase spam (hence the micromanagement problems
marigoldran, plenty of large map peeps have stated they play fine without patriotic. Now I think where things are borked is the fact where these awesome high level techs for improvement are % based, and the % is applied AFTER the LEP. This is ludicrous, and is simply broken. That with hardly any LEP(even the amount I have on my smaller map games), that age of expansion buildings are more efficient
