Can't say I've been swindled, but I also purchased an IBM thinkpad recently. I work for an OEM, and they decided to have an employee sale. I'm one of the fortunate ones that work the night shift. As the sale started at 9 in the morning, and my shift ends at 9 in the morning, I was one of the first through the door for the sale. Now, the way our employee sales are set up, we have the usual stuff that we sell (desktops, notebooks, monit

I've been using Paypal for a couple of years now with no problems. I've found it to be safe as well as convenient for eBay autions. One word of caution though, you will be receiving emails from time to time telling you that your registration with Paypal is about to expire, or telling you that they are conducting security updates, or.... or..... or..... The two things that these emails have is that 1) they will take you to an http URL and not an https URS (the missing s will te

I honestly had no intention of offending anyone when I made this post. I thought that this may be a good opportunity for someone who is just getting started to maybe get some small reward for their efforts, as well as a bit of recognition. Besides which, most of the people here put many hours of work into their art for absolutely no reward at all. I apologise for having offended.

Amamax, an online computer part retail site would like to get a new look for their web site, and are holding a competition. The winner of the competition wins a new computer case with a power supply (according to the information on their site). I thought that this would be a good place to post this little snippet of information because there is more artistic talent running around loose on this site than you can shake a stick at. I mean that sincerely <img src="http://images.stardock.com

That way may lay a lot of heartache and pain when you need support on whatever you buy from them. I say this not as a customer, but as an empl

You might try http://1and1.com 500 MB web space 5,000 MB/month traffic ($.99 per GB for additional traffic) No limits on simultaneous hits/bandwidth Protected by firewall Daily backups of your website 99.9% Uptime guarantee I believe they support Java and a bunch of other stuff. The one drawback that I've seen with them is that there is no ASP support. Otherwise, their service is great, and it's free for three years.

Be warned though, it can be very addicting. Kinda figured that one out already. Seems that I never get any work done these days 'cos I'm spending too much time here. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

A lot of the ideas that people have thrown out there are good ones, but nobody seems to have taken into account that reaching the download cap for non-subscribers can be be dragged out over a long period of time, and that when people have pretty much an unlimited time span to reach a decision as to whether or not to purchase a subscription, they will most likely not make the decision to buy. How about putting a time limit on non-subscription accounts? Have them expire after say 60 days

Looks like he needs a boot disk that can read NTFS volumes to be able to get into the drive so that he can recover some of his smaller files (those that'll fit on a floppy disk), and to delete the .pwl file if anyone comes up with the name of the .pwl file that holds the XP log on passwords. You can download an XP boot diskette that will allow you to read NTFS volumes here: http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm Here's another link that may help if you have an XP box and your

Tell your uncle to boot into safe mode by tapping on F8 when he powers on and choosing the appropriate options. He can then log in as administrator at the welcome screen. Once he is logged in, he can go into user accounts and fix the password problem. Hope he hasn't set a password for the default administrator account

I don't post here very often for the reasons that Keila stated in her post. There are times when I feel like jumping in and saying exactly what Keila said, but I refrain for obvious reasons. She's right on the money with this one. Before taking any kind of action people, be it purchasing a new car or slamming someone on a message board, get the facts.... always get the facts!

Here's a question that noone here seems to have considered yet (if i'm mistaken, correct me).... Are the musicians getting anything out of the settlements that the RIAA are making out of court, and if any of these cases do actually make it to court and fines are imposed on the people who are found guilty of illegally downloading copyrighted music, are the musicians getting anything out of that? Seems that the musicians are getting a raw deal either way!

I've been hanging around WC for quite a while, and I eventually even decided that based on the content and the quality of the good folk that are part of the WC community, a subscription would be a good thing to have. So with that in mind, I purchased a subscription, and I event went as far as purchasing the full suite of Stardock software in an attempt to support a great site (Don't know what I'm gonna do with Skin Studio as I'm one of the severely Artistically Challenged <img src="http://images
