If you can only afford one video game purchase a year you might want to be looking at the premise of your question instead. AOW3, good or bad, won't be out for awhile. If you haven't dove into FE already then wait and see the reviews on the expansion and decide then. I'm getting AOW3 no matter what. I'm also getting Eador and that comes out soon.
As a paying customer, I am entitled to my opinion. I think that everyone with an opinion, believes in the validity of their opinion, and will "dress it" in such a way to convince others. And other people on the forum are entitled to disagree with me. That's how it works. One sided forums where everyone holds hands and sings in unison are nice, but I'd rather have an exchange of ideas (good or bad, or those tha
but there is already a thread on the board discussing whether to wait for LH or purchase other games. Nothing. There is nothing to do about trolls except stay in well moderated communities. You mentioned the Gallants...They are an example of the system working. Haven't they been banned from the mainstream gaming sites? Last time I lurked theyre only on broken forum which is just a site where banned people go to die...
Those screenshots, they hurt the eyes!
They're making fun of the way the major studios are notorious for hinging bonuses on a particular metacritic score. Unless you're into gaming, it probably doesn't make any sense. But apparently some people took the conversation literally. The internets are full of people looking to be offended.
Just got done with a long 1.2 game. Here are my thoughts. Turns take longer but the AI seems smarter. The diplomacy system is still pretty primitive. The AI should build up a bigger army before going to war. Their governments and their commanders don't seem to be talking enough. Wild Lands don't have nearly as much of a role as one might think. I wish we had a hall of fame. I don't find the other paths to victory other than c
It's probably the case that the AI is currently optimized for the default settings, and just cannot deal with large maps?
That is what I think too. The AI in Galactic Civilizations always played best on medium maps or smaller. The bigger the maps the harder of a time it had. Not surprising really. The bigger the map the more coordination of varied forces matter which is what humans are masters at.
My dozen-and-counting games have been on large (the first ~third) and xxlarge maps (most of the last dozen) -- Ecomental mod -- and expert and ridiculous difficulty settings (game world and AI were both set the same).
Prince is not comparable to challenging. Challenging is like one or two steps above Prince. Prince is "normal". Also, the CIV5 AI on prince can take cities. In FE, the "normal" AI is a non-factor. The neutral monsters pose more of a threat than any of the AI, at least in the first bit of the game, and then it is just a grind to win the game without any challenges what-so-ever. I would go as far to say the same ab
First thing to understand is that Unamommer's real name is Angie Gallant whose husband got banned from the game forum quartertothree.com. Her husband Matt Gallant has some sort of obsession with Brad. The Gallants got banned from Qt3 and blamed Brad and launched theice petty "revenge" by bad mouthing Brad's book and getting their friends to 1-star it.
Hey, I've lurked on brokenforum and somethingawful in the past. All the light in the world won't change their minds. You're thinking that if they knew "the truth" they'd stop being douchebags? Sorry Brad, that's naive. What makes them douchebags keeps them from changing. That's why they're exiled out into the fringes of the net. They are oblivious that they're the problem. Instead.......stop giving them ammo.

Shouldn't this age old question be easy to verify? Just load up the game with the /cheat flag and hit ctrl-u to unhide the map and watch. The AI cheats when I lose. It doesn't cheat when I win. That's all the proof I need. :-D
My friends who know me know I love digital distribution. It's the best thing that's happened to this industry ever. I've tried out games I never would have tried. As someone who would love to become a game developer, it gives me hope that if I made something maybe someone would play it.
