Seems like the trends in this post reflects very well the state of balancing discussions over here: - You've got people arguing that broken stuff strategy "x"is fun and we should keep it that way. - You've got people trying to hit the nail on the head by putting forward funky solutions about "x". I would personally agree with the first group up to the point when I p

Totally agree with joeball also I have to admit Hawawaa's got a point saying knives should deal more damage if equipped by an assassin (from a trait or just automatically) No hard feeling Nanako but I think you completly misunderstand how to use knives or what they are made for: they are free damage. Not a TON of free damage, just a tiny bit of free damage you get when walking up to charge distance of an enemy. "But why walkin
Hello! I had the same problem as you when I started playing the game, now rocking in expert soon in ridiculous! I think the choice of your city location is the MOST important thing if you try to build up something that look like an empire/kingdom (no pun intended) - Fortresses: 2 grains+ and 4 materials + (anything above this in numbers will make a greater production center for your troops obviously). Anything with 4 materia
I'm not sure about it but the AI seems to consider the amount of influence you have/get per turn and this accounts as a diplomatic bonus in foreign relations with other kingdom (+2).
I know I can design units to have horses, but is that the only way to add them? Kind of wish you could upgrade units to have horses like you do with armor and weapons.
Definitly THIS, I want to be able to dispact wargs/horses on units that are on foot. That would really fit in terms of gameplay and rpg/strategic experience. Not sure though how to balance the cost of
+1 for women in leather fighting off bad guys!
For a face to face brawl with a chambercoil dragon ( the weakest) level 10+ on 2 heroes, some archers, one unit to tank and a few hard hitters (infantry, cavalry with blunt weapons) should do the trick. Obivously if you have Juggernauts it's easier :D Does Shrink works on Dragons? damn that's crazy ! Don't forget to use spell on them if you can before engaging one (freeze, tremor) to lower its initiative for exem
@ Lord Xia - Come on summoning is not that great but comes as the icing on the cake for high level mage! A level 10 Fire elemental will chew through companies of archers with embers, it will tank heavy Cavalry or Dragon like a bauS, and will make use of Cloak of fire and his High attack to destroy any infantry/cavalry in a 1 on 1. In an organized groups of casters and heavy cavalry they have a niche role when you are far away from any Fortresses to fill up the place when one of
I don't have problems with the implementation of stacks in the game. As stated above their is plenty way of dealing with them: - Freeze, Tremors, Pillars of Flame, Tidal waves and such - Defense ready up for a triple siege ( blizzard scrolls, mages, elite units, summons + city defense). My only problem with the stacking system is when I'm at war with one AI and I signed a non aggression pact wiht another one. I have witnessed the A
Yeah that's a great ide! After complementing my first game I thought about HoMM III Hall of Fame and thought "Damn! I wish I had one of those to keep my scores in FE". Would be really nice to have one implemented!
I know that I might get a lot of hate for this comment. And i can certainly understand that getting your conclaves to level 4 is sometimes a long way to go, but you can usually count on the AI to get one for you. In any case I feel like the Blizzard Scrolls are WAY to cheap for what they are. Spending 90 gold for an instant massive AoE burst is broken. I find myself buying stacks of them whenever I get access to a scroll library. The main problem is that the spell is in
Try playing with a custom leader with the adventurer trait: recruiting any champion is free (pretty broken with kraxis imo lol). One of the best profession to pick up! those 2 events were probably bad luck. Champions have to be considered as rare resources. Denying them and recruiting them is as important as getting your resources up and running (and probably even more).
They could really use some help with the use of strategic spell casting as well as tactical. They tend to spend their whole stack of mana and mana upkeep on their champions (tutelage, tireless march, ironskin and so on), heroes they stack in the same group (or 2 groups) so they don't generally get past level 10. I have never been frozen, tremored, burnt etc entering the AI zone of control. Maybe the AI should save some mana in case of intrusion into its territory.</
Yeah the one turn casting time really makes it unappealing. In that one turn you can ready a Fireball, send a fire dart, or start channeling your Blizzard. Speaking of Blizzard Does anyone know if the % bonus for spell from focus applies on scrolls like fireballs&blizzard? Because that would be the only viable use of it.
I don't know if the AI gets free traits off of the difficulty settings but ALL the AI units in my expert games have bloodthirsty/strenght/ironskin. And these can be stacked depending of their units' traits as well. Made the mistake of creating charge/ironskin/strong infantry units and now i'm facing them every game with an additional 3 traits (given 2 of their traits are redundant/stacking). Pretty hard to fend off plenty of Blunt&leather infantry runnin
Great idea! that would be really cool to be able to edit custom factions and sovereigns as we go. Like being able to change traits to test out multiple starting builds would be really helpful. I fell for the random name trap on the first sovereign I created as well ^^"
While I certainly agree that the summoning field of magic is lacking I would be careful as to asking for the summoning restriction to be gone completly. While it would certainly help for the early game and give more appeal to the magic tech tree(in terms of mana upkeep techs), it would completly break the balance of powers later in the game (mid to late game): Being able of summoning 3/4 fire elemental level 4 early could certainly help. But being able to spam e
