A slight nerf might be an order. The problem is that Juggs are essential for the Trog armies. Without them the Yithril are just a gimped version of the Gilden.

The Yithril are usually my first target if they're nearby. Juggernaughts are of course the reason why. Handling one or two Juggs is no problem at a time, but as more of them get trained, the lethality of the Yithril armies seems to grow exponentially. A Yithril sovereign + 4 Juggs is a BIG problem. I am curious to know what is the general consensus on the Juggs and what are your favorite anti Jugg strategies.
I remember there being some discussion about this if I remember correctly and it came down to the fact that the devs wanted the tactical battles to be a fairly minor part of the game. I think their rationale was it's a strategy game, not a tactical wargame.
Can't say that I'm too pleased with that rationale. Lack of tactical battles is one reason why I don't own any Galciv games.
Speaking of the tactical battles, I would absolutely LOVE the ability to position my units prior to the start of the battle. It would make tactical battles that much more tactical. All too often do I lose a squishy but valuable unit because it begins the battle in front of my meat shields instead of being behind them.
Reloading is the granddaddy of all cheats.
They definitely do. Their rate of advancement drops NOTICEABLY if you have just two in the same stack. More than two == snail pace advancement.
Is it even possible to survive this? Tried it just for laughs and, well, got curbstomped by the nearest wildland. Couldn't settle anything or build anything that would last more than a few turns. Didn't even meet half of the A.I.'s let alone fight any of them. High difficulty A.I.'s cancel each other out, high difficulty world seems to be a whole different story. Basically buried alive by the stream of monsters. Awesome experience.
Why do you find random maps crap? Just curious, I play nothing but large random maps, and for a while I've even stopped re-rolling.
Oftentimes the sovereign distribution is uneven. Same with the resources and city-friendly tiles. I have yet to be marooned on a small island though.
Magnar is probably the most powerful to play, if you figure out a decent strategy with his slaves.
Couldn't agree more. Those maintenance-free slaves are amazing fodder AND a great way to generate mana with Cull the Weak. Oh, and those cheap-cheap stealthy Slave Scouts == opening the map faster than anyone else.
Random Map Generator is ... ummm ... crap, so I normally play on Curgen's domain. It's a fine map, but gets repetitive after a while. It also has trouble fitting in more than 10 players. So a few new large HUGE well thought out maps would be a great addition to the game.
If you're gonna implement dynasties, you'll have to implement aging and death as well. I would be mighty pissed if I lose a lvl 20+ sovereign to old age.
No spells, just a ranged attack with their Staves.
Also the trait that gives Cerese (I think) the ability to hire Hero's for free is way over the top. That ability should give a large hiring cost reduction (50%) instead of hiring Heros for free.
You're probably talking about Relias. The truth is that Karavox, not Relias is a champ-stacking machine: starting with 800 Gildar and the ability to recruit both Kingdom and Empire champs, he can load up on them faste
I think a lot of people play one game of FE then post all the things that are wrong with it. What they don't realize is that they are reporting their findings based on playing 1 of 8 very different factions not to mention a randomly generated map that may or may not have had the resources, monsters, quests, fertile lands, opponents, etc., to your liking. In addition, and this is important, the AI will use your unit designs against
What the heck are you talking about? please re-read my post. IT WAS MY FIRST GAME EVER. I picked Tarth because the bows looked cool and it looked like a non-complicated race. Argh! My eyes!!!!
Well, because if the AI is good, and the game is well designed then at the appropriate difficulty level you should have a hard time beating 1 or 2 AIs, therefore you should stand no chance against 5 ais at war with you. I just read one of Tuidjys posts according to which the AI gangs up on the player on higher difficulties, therefor if you are able to still win the game is not balanced well. Either that or they dont gang up - I'm
It seems like a good skill and costs nothing to take. Any reason not to take it on a custom faction?
I see some people are playing vs 10 or 18 opponents - do you ever finish your games?!
Certainly. And I have fun doing it.
erratic diplomacy would mess everything up
Not in my experience
- then you would really need to start reloading and saving your games if the AI is any challenge.
That's just not true. There's no need to cheat in order to win.
Please feel free to suggest more fun settings to play on, or suggest why my analysis might be wrong.
Fun settings? Sure. Large landmass, 10+ opponents. Difficulty level -- Ridiculous, both for the World and the competition. Race? Doesn't matter. This should be fun. Now if you're not looking for fun, but rather to gimp your gameplay, then I suggest the following: Insane Difiiculty for both the World

MOM is still the greatest overall fantasy strategy game out there and HOMM II & III come in 2nd still. MOM has ATMOSPHERE and COLOR and great MUSIC. This game is far from it still. I found the replay value in MOM to be quite a LOT over the past 20 years and I've played it many times and still play it and most especially after the ai update of 140h which rea
Bought the game from Steam on day 1. Never had an issue launching it.
Soon, I hope. Any specific ETA yet?
Honestly, do you think there is any truth in it?
The guy doesn't know how to play the game and blames the game for his failure to win it... Worthless review imho.
