Interesting posts so far. I was planning to buy AOW 3 asap, as I am ready for something new after 800+ hours of FE/LH. Now I will have to reconsider...
If you liked the previous AoW games, you will love this one.

AoW3 is coming out on Monday and looks totally awesome. Provided that nobody screams "BUGS!" if the first few hours after the release, it'll be a day one purchase for me. Come Monday I will no longer care about the 1.6 patch for LE.
Well you asked for a better way to generate mana... Cast Skeletal Horde, then Cull them is a better way than slaves.
But in that case, why would it matter who is summoning and who is culling? The sov can summon while the familiar is culling and vice versa. Or am I not understanding this right?
All the heroes can cast Cull the Weak if you're playing a faction with that trait so that's not it. The kicker is when you use the Familiar to cast a second Skeletel Horde from which to Cull the Weak.
I don't use summons. I use slaves, lots of slaves.

The game is bugged. Having said that, many bugs are easy enough to avoid. I'd like to post some of my observations (most of them are carryovers from the original FE). 1. If you're going to reload from a save, quit the game and load from a freshly started instance. Minimizes crashes almost to the point of non-existence. 2. If you're saving the game, make sure that none of your units are scheduled to move further than their movement points allow. Otherise upon reload
...Take a familiar, and you'll have 2 capable casters quicker.
Familiar used to cast Cull the Weak, this is brilliant! An actual use for a familiar.

Magnar race. Slaves. Flesh Bound Tome. Cull the Weak. Train a bunch of super cheap slaves, stack them with a Sov/Champ, attack the weakest lair you can find, then Cull, Cull, Cull. Kill the monster(s), pocket the extra mana, cycle, rinse, repeat at another lair. Getting lots of mana very early in the game is extremely beneficial. Is there a better way of generating mana other than eating the Shards via the Consume spell?

I tend to modify the original factions in order to enhance their natural strengths, and Resoln are no exception. Replaced the Cult of a Hundred Eyes with Enchanters, and that worked out really well: extra essence is, ummm.... quite essential to the Resoln. Now I'm looking at Binding and considering replacing it with Lucky. On one hand Cyndrum demons are cool, maintenance-free and quite useful if you're willing to protect them in early battles while they build up their

Is that the case or is it just me? I play almost exclusively on the Wildlands DLC map, and back in the FE days it was full of high essence (3+) locations. Nowadays I consider myself lucky to get a 2 essence start. Has the essence assignment algorithm been toned down or something?

I do that a lot. Remove weak/cheesy traits from factions and sovereigns, play as them to build up some cool unit templates, and faction ends up doing much better later on in the AI's hands. Crap like Slave Lord, Stealthy, Diplomat, Betrayers, Familiar, Hunter gets slashed for better traits/abilities. Come to think of it, there are only three factions that I didn't mod: Altar, Yithril, and Gilden. Then there are little things: it's amazing how much more effe

So, I got me LH, and I like it. A lot. I don't love it, but it's pretty damn good. Anyway, with this new skill progression for Mages coupled with the fact that cross-school spells no longer exist (or am I missing something?) there's really not much of a reason for a Mage Sov/Champ to have access to more than 3 schools. Life/Death for flavor, Air for convenience, Fire to burn everything down. This significantly marginalizes the benefits of Decalon. I remember that i

Something cool like Roman themed armor for the Magnar, maybe Samurai themed armor for the Urxen, etc etc. If it comes out as DLC I'd buy it. I wanna be able to take a glance at the unit and realize right away which race that unit belongs to. Also, if the Ironeers looked a little dwarfier (shorter and stockier) and Tarth/Wraiths looked a little elfier, that would be great as well. Yeah, I'd buy that too. Same old uninspired armor on trained

Can a Stardock guy clear this confusion for me? The discount used to be available via steam, now it's only via Stardock. Will my steam-bought map DLC function with a Stardock-bought LH?

Hey, that actually worked! Followup question: Back before LH came out I bought the FE Map Pack for my steam version of FE. Will that map pack be compatible with LH if I buy LH directly from Stardock? Thanks

Aren't FE owners supposed to get a 50% discount on LH? I paid full price for FE, but there's no way I'll be paying full price for what is essentially the same game. Also, that 1.4 update for FE is taking waaaay too long. I hope that's because it's gonna be magnificent, right?
