I agree. The chance of dying permanently could be, say, 10% per injury that you already have at the time of being "killed". So the first death is definitely safe, but after that it gets riskier and riskier.
So instead what the game does is it costs the movement between A and every other road with the existing roads. If it is ever shorter to go onto a non-road tile to connect any of those cities, then it buidls a road there. Since our roads give such a big movement advantage, its pretty rare (honestly if were were to reduce the movement bonus on roads you would see more hookups between cities).
Hi Derek,</
Certainly in the unit design screen, if you select "Veteran" the unit's stats do not change (e.g. no increase in hp). I think that is a bug; it's confusing at least.
As a designer my goal isn't to have players thinking that everything is balanced. I want players to feel like every option is overpowered.
I'm so pleased you posted this. Possibly my favourite ever game is Dominions 3, and I am the maintainer for the most commonly used balance mod for that game. In Dom3, lots of things feel completely overpowered. It makes them exciting to use! But then when you meet your opponent, he has equally ove
Do post if you find a solution! Would be much much better not to have to specially boot into Windows (and deal with a hail of update pop-ups from Adobe, Java etc...).
Thanks for the replies, that's very helpful. The imp/familiar summoning chain trick is very cool - that's a fairly good workaround actually, if you don't mind spending say 10hp and 300 mana to get a reasonable factory going. Feels a bit clumsy though, and I can't help but wonder if it's a bug rather than an intended feature. Stacking summoner traits sounds like a bug to me - I don't understand why it would make sense from a thematic point of view. It
Hi, I'm just getting to grips with this game. I think I've got most of it down, but I'm still confused about summoning monsters. Am I right in thinking that each summon spell can only be cast once at a time? I'd imagined that it might be possible to specialise in summoning to the extent that you could summon significant forces if you invested enough mana. But if you can only cast each one once then practically you're only likely to ever have a couple
This sounds awesome! Would really add to the fun of the game. Buying special niche spells off witches, paying the giants to launch a raid at an enemy city, or forming an alliance with a monster faction and gaining their leader as a hero all sound very interesting.
