Running FE LH in wine

Anybody had luck running FE LH in wine so far? For me it is crashing in gameoverlayui.exe. There isn't anything helpful in the appdb.

When I purchased the game I was hoping for it to work well in wine because of the simple graphics. It would be great to not have to boot windows everytime I want to play FE...

I'm not sure if it helps but gameoverlayui.exe is the steam shift-tab interface. Try turning it off in the settings. Right click Steam -> Settings -> In-Game -> Disable Steam Community In-Game.

Great tip. However now a crash is occurring in LegendaryHeroes.exe itself, which is much harder to track down. If I find another solution I'll post it to this thread.

I am running FE in wine under linux. I am not using the steam version but the stardock standalone version, so I am not sure if this helps.

To get the game running under recent wine versions, I had to rename the file SDNXLOverlay.dll in the game folder. Not sure if you have that file too.

I remember to get the game running without that in wine 1.4 if I remember correctly, so using an older wine via playonlinux could be worth a try, too.

Would be great to hear, if this helps.

Do post if you find a solution! Would be much much better not to have to specially boot into Windows (and deal with a hail of update pop-ups from Adobe, Java etc...).
