Line of sight is all your snipers usually need. Rockets do not depend on your aim attribute, they are a fixed 90% I believe. Unless you are playing a mod. I can tell you this much though... you're really not getting everything out of the game playing it the way you are :) Of course, anyone should feel free to play however they enjoy playing, that said, XCOM is designed to be played at a level which you find difficu

Some people will tell you that the only way to play the game is Classic/Ironman. Or, even Impossible/Ironman. You can also check out the 2nd Wave options now, some of which change the game play up enough to where you cannot just do the same sat rush mass rocketter nonsense :) Though squadsight snipers in archangel armor still seem to rule...

I'm pretty sure you get the same 'loot' no matter what you do, unless you blow it up, then you either don't get it at all or it comes as damaged. As to the suppression related crash, I have no idea, never experienced it myself.

If it's just the final mission, while annoying, even in ironman I believe it always allows you to restart that mission no matter what. If it's something else I don't know, I never had any crash issues.

For grenade/rocket targeting it sometimes helps to rotate the view so that you're not moving the mouse close to the edge of the screen. There are still some tricky spots on some maps because the sides of the map don't allow you to get a perfect view of where you're trying to throw without putting the mouse too close to the edge where it seems to 'spaz' a bit more.

Well Steam and XCOM have a different relationship then. Most mods (other than cosmetic only ones) will be overwritten if you don't turn off the autoupdate or check thingy for it. Anyway, the game doesn't have or need any unofficial patches. Just mods. And you don't need any of them either :)

Balanced is in the eye of the beholder for the most part, but if this is really your 1st play of the game I would stick with Vanilla on Normal or Classic depending on your tolerance for difficulty And of course Iron Man. Always play Iron Man. Way cool. Quicker set up. Spea
Quoting Hawawaa, reply 19 I got my squads wipes on impossible ironman in 3 games so I'm going through normal just to say fuck you game I'll try it again later for impossible and ironman. I hated the council mission "Site Recon", it just ended so badly. I didn't come prepared only because it got triggered so damn early. Oh if your curious about some mods for xcom- http://xcom.nexus

Reply to Dominions 4?? in PC Gaming

Yeah, I'm sure it's a lot of fun if you still enjoyed Dom3. I appreciate what Illwinter does, I just don't care to support it anymore because its not really pushing anything forward enough to justify spending more money on it. Maybe by the time Dom5 comes around.

Diablo with super heroes? I guess I'm burnt out on the whole genre because I would have guessed this would have appealed to me, but at the moment all I can think of is meh.

I don't know why, this game should be right in my wheel house, yet I cannot get through more than a couple turns in the demo before i get completely bored and quit. Very odd.

I would guess there is no reason to get 3 if you are getting 4. 4 doesn't seem drastically different from 3 anyway, just improves on it, there wasn't much to love about 3 anyway that shouldn't also be present in 4. Though I'm not bothering with 4 for the time being. From what I can tell the mirco and UI are still below my standards.
We want an updated Xcom EU because that game is better in all aspects except graphics and UI. That is only reason. New Xcom is a fine game of its own, but it is not near the quality of the original.
Agree to disagree then. I find the old game broken beyond redemption at this point and the new game highly enjoyable once you start exploring 2nd wave options and mods.

One of my biggest complaints about XCOM:EU is that you have to sit there very passively and react to each alien incursion in a very predictable way.
