Of course it is bug because you can avoid it. You don't activate autoattack if you attack monster in two right-clicks: 1) get close to monster, 2) attack him. But you activate autoattack if you attack monster in one right-click and your unit is not close to monster.

[1.11] Autoattack bug is old. I reported it here . Way to reproduce: In tactical battle your unit should be in tile that is not adjacent to monster. From that position you are to right-click the monster to attack it immediately (it is important). Get away from the monster. Get close to the monster. Autoattack triggers. It is just magic. You should understand it as creator of fantasy game.
You can record videos of most important battles. No need for speech. It can help developers to impove AI/balance.
Early rush with Magnar. Create Slave Scout and Cheap Slave in Unit Design. Cast Consume to unnecessary shards for 200 mana, if there are any, and cast Heart of Fire to your cities (+1 Fire Attack per Essence). Build Slave Scout or Cheap Slave each turn. Search for nearby factions. When meet a faction, propose Economic Treaty to create roads between your c
Problem is not only in dragons. All monsters are much easier with Shrink/Growth/Blindness/Curse. Other magic barely can compete with Life/Death in early game.
Some weapons are weak but have big Values: Other weapons are strong but have small Values: <img style="vertical-align: top;" s
Once I got Dancing Boots for Ashwake Dragon.
Potions and Salted Pork are too strong in tactical battle and available for everyone. For comparison, Heal heals by only 8 (+2 per life shard), requires Life 2 and can't be used in strategic map.
Performance is much better.
If you want to defeat Clambercoil Dragon without extreme, you need: several potions or salted pork, about 50% fire resistance ( Ring of Embers + Nature's Cloak), about 10-15 defence.
Suggestions besides magic: Add Trample ability to strongest dragons: inflict damage to target equal to 75% of target max HP. Add non blocking Counterattack to strongest dragons (can't be blocked by spears). Add Immunity to Curses: Shrink, Blindness, Curse, etc.
Before I get Growth/Shrink, I gain levels slowly, because I can't defeat strong monsters. After I get Growth/Shrink, I gain levels quickly. So imho Growth and Shrink are overpowered. Edit: Theoretically I can defeat best dragon 1vs1 on level 6: Path of Assassin, Life 3, Gamblers Strike, Adventurer's Boon. But I was very unlucky with skills in my last game. I get Gamblers Strike only on level 12 or so. I didn't get Double Strike.
Update: Fell Dragon is defeated 1vs1 without using summons on season 56. Save .
AI is bland.
[1.01] My Lady Irane defeated Fell Dragon on season 50. Save before the battle. Video of the battle:
Unfortunately I lost my save with Irane. I remember Irane had 32 Initiative, Double Strike, Shadow Strike 2, Burning Blade enchantment and Shadow Dagger. So she completely ignored armor and made big crits. Also she had Prismatic Potion and Quendar Wine. Maybe I will start new game to make save for you. Kavarox can defeat dragon even simplier. 23 dodge + Fortify + Blindness + Curse + Ring of Embers + Nature's Cloak + Potions. Of course Kavarox needs a hero with
At first you gain levels on average monsters: Cave Bears, Naja, Troll Party, etc. Then Forest Drake, Slag. Shrink/Blindness helps you on every battle. When you are ready and have potions you can defeat big fat dragon.
Tuidjy used combo: some Dodge + Fortify + Blindness in his playthrough. So dragon has only 3% chance to hit. My Lady Irane defeated Clambercoil Dragon in about season 50 using Shrink .
There are two simple ways to defeat Clambercoil/Ashwake Dragon before season 50. First is Life magic: Shrink and Growth. Second is Death magic: Blindness and Curse. Of course you can easily defeat other monsters too with Life or Death magic. Hero levelling is most important part of game. So the only viable way to play is using Life or Death magic. It leads to one-way playing that is boring. Also when you defeat most powerful monster so early, you lose interest to continue playing, b
Clambercoil Dragon damages himself for 50+ HP when he uses Fire Breath.
I feel the same as OP. I started about ten games and didn't finish any. My record is about 100 seasons. Playing every sovereign is the same: levelling heroes and city spam that really leads nothing. The game just doesn't keep you playing. FE doesn't give you enough incentives and aims for each moment of playing. Really you can skip many turns and nothing changes. So you play or you don't play - nothing really changes. It seems the game is not player-oriente
Syphon Strength doesn't steal 25% Attack from target. A ctually Syphon Strength decreases target's attack by 25% and adds 25% Attack to caster. Is it intended? I cast Syphon Strength on Slag and I get only +1.5 Attack.
When I turn off Outlines, map scrolling (camera moving) is much better.
I prefer hamster build. Maybe because of a bit more comfortable camera moving. Overall camera moving is still not smooth for me even in early game. Please, make it more comfortable.
