There are a couple rough ends still but this is the game SotS II should have been.
Have you played Sots ][ lately? Its shaping up to be one hell of a good game that I would think would eat ES for breakfast. ;)
For vintage, I'd like to give an honorary mention for two Spectrum titles: Reberstar Raiders Lords of Midnight Other than that, pretty much the games you've all mentioned already
Lords of midnight. I wasted a good whole year on that game. I know you can still play it on the midnight engine but I wish they would do a good remake of it.
I want a update every week or my money back. :D
I think essence may be dog poo, and you have to train a special squad to clean it up. If you don't your troops take a morality hit when they tread in it.
They are all playing Sins, Elemental is far, far from their minds. :D
Thanks much so far! Good, helpful comments. I would be glad to hear some sort of elaboration on Tattyhat's part, too, because, as I said above, I'd like to know "why".
Nothing much to elaborate on really onomastikon. Simply put, the game did not turn me on, didn't get the blood rushing and I cannot remember at any time becoming excited by anything in ES. I done a lot of clicking not really
I'm really looking forward to beta 5.
I am in no doubt Mr SeanW3, that the game will appeal to many, yet even though I found it pretty, and very slick I also found boredom creeping in as monotony took hold. As you say, it could be that the game just does not grab me personally, but I put forth my opinion freely, as you do yours. More than one opinion is good for the blood don't you know? [e digicons][/e]
In truth I found ES to be all about micromanagement in the excessive. The combat is not really worth talking about, the interface and information is written in Swahili . In short, there is very little game there, but it does look pretty. Only my opinion and not fact. [e digicons]:zoomba:[/e]
I guess I am lucky that I have only just bought sots2. If I had bought it at release I probably would have been madder than hell too. If only they had sold it as alpha/ beta funded like ES, I think people would have been happy with it then. I actually like the changes over sots prime. Everything has sort of a personal feel to it in sots2, you get attached to your ships and stuff.
I would put Sots2 and ES at about at the same point of beta testing. After playing both you can see that Sots2 is a hell of a lot bigger game than ES. Sots2 is a massive project that comes with a 64bit client and DX10/11. It's in a very playable state at the moment and when finished......wow. So I wouldn't write off Sots2 just yet. :D
I have never as yet finished a game due to bugs, massive slowdown, cheating AI or over powered monsters and/or enemy. I came close to winning and finishing one game, but then the whole thing crashed.
On a minus point, not that I know of.
0.915.002 I think is the patch. 0.915.001 is the full download. Both are the same game version.
I think it would be easier to mention the things that I don't like. :) On the subject of beta versions, I have to say that the most fun I had from the game was while playing version 0.912. I am not to sure why, but the game seem to have greater immersion than it's predecessors.
I don't know. Why do you always have to ask such hard questions? [e digicons]o_O[/e]
+1 Agreed, the splash damage is just plain stupid.
Two bugs. 1 - Sometimes one of your stack appears on another square adjacent to your stack. 2 - Sometimes killing monsters and heroes does not remove the units graphic from the map. I have had a 'EFE.exe not working' crash after this has happened.
Except for the graphics you would think the AI was ported straight from GalCivII. They both do or make the exact same moves and decisions. ;)
I have progressed to EASY difficulty, and I really don't know how the AI can do what it does without cheating. I go as fast as I can but when I meet the AI he has 10 times what I have of the map, plus his army's are enormous. I barely have enough time and resources to build one or two units, were the AI has a endless stream of them, that he throws at you without let-up.
When I first played, I started with the tutorials and straight away I thought I had made a bad dicision and wasted my money. But after starting the proper game I could see it was only the tutorials that were very bugged. Start the game and you will like. :)
Quoting NorsemanViking, reply 1Perhaps they prepare the maps for naval stuff being introduced, increasing the sealevel. Just wishfull thinking I guess, doesent seem like we will see that before in an expansion pack.... I actually like the boundary that water and cliffs gives in this game, my issues currently is other places Sincerely ~ Kongdej
Having the
Is it me getting bigger or are the maps getting smaller? There doesn't seem to be as much land mass on large maps in 0.915 as there use to be. Anyone else noticed?
I don't want the game to be finished and released. Life will be horrible without beta's to look forward to . [e digicons]:|[/e]
Aww, now that's just being greedy. You'll have to eat what is on your plate before you can have any pudding. ;)
