I think I might be responsible for breaking the game in the first place by replacing my DATA.ZIP as per a thread in the mod forum. After this happened I uninstalled, cleaned the registry (I tried not to be over aggressive nuking Stardock keys) and deleted the game preferences directory. I reinstalled, am patched to 1.06 and it still happens :( I have no mods installed at all, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Here's my error file

You can EASILY make an over the top, front line sovereign. BUT it does require you taking advantage of the various exploits (tons of packs, rings and amulets). Blend that with a min-max melee build (15 STR, DEX and CON to start, take assassin as professional and any "melee" good traits) and go heavy into the adventure and warfare tree early... you'll have an unstoppable juggernaut of destruction in no time flat.
It reminds me of 1st edition D&D... the "math" was convoluted and inconsistent :)
(a) Rune, please stop trying to stir up shit. Just because someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't follow that they're a dupe, plant, shill, etc. Make your point without resorting to personal attacks, get karma, win. (2) Given the inflammatory review by her husband (aka the guy kicked off of QT3 forums for "stalking" Brad) on Amazon and her own site's, it is highly suspect that this is ANYTHING but a smear campaign on their part. Hell, she hasn't had a posting sin
That's awesome Stax. Except for the fact that the overwhelming majority of the incoming damage is going to be physical...
I'd agree that her smear campaign (if indeed she and her husband are the ones doing the Amazon reviews) is despicable and borderline defamatory. That said, the snippets I've seen (assuming they weren't doctored) point to a godawfully poorly written book. No racist agenda, just plain old bad text.
Pretty painful reviews so far... I guess I'll hold off until some of commas get pruned in v2.0.
I'm using this mod which greatly improves and expands the sovereign talent choices as well as those found on "champions". One of 'em is "Mage" which APPEARS to fix the lack of sovereign mana regen, though it could be a base fix in the mod itself.
Easy to do that huh? I noticed anything by you is all about how bad it is, how bad the launch was, nothing else. So in other words, useless. Thos are all known things....repeating them over and over will notmake them more true. Add some areas to improve, talk about what to do next....don't dwell on the negative because it solves nothing. And yes, constant hate posts makes you look like your frothing at the mouth, sorr
I'm quite disappointed with how Stardock has handled aspects of this, while simultaneously rather impressed with others. Bad The early release was an unmitigated disaster of crashes. Yes, some will post that THEY never had a crash so it must not have happened or been very isolated, but the general sentiment has been the opposite. Even with 1.05 (aka "Day 0") the game is still missing s
Playing Avernum 6 right now. Its a VERY good game. There is a lot of reading, which is actually good because it doesn't suck. And they actually used a spell checker. I really suggest people try avernum. I went with 6 since it gives a fully open game window with the interface as an overlay. It also runs at numerous resolutions. Elemental needs to take this game and have it be their tactical battle window.
I've pla

I'd agree with your wholeheartedly if this were a bargain or indie-priced game... not something that's supposedly ready according to Brad (while not being the case) while set at a AAA pricepoint.
That would be like suggesting that you and all the other frothing at the mouth posters are the same...Notice I never said I agreed with the 9 you however hate for the sake o f hating.
You're right... Elemental is an absolutely flawless game with nary a problem and only a "hater" could do anything but foam at the mouth with joy over it. Oh wait...
It looks like rossanderson's true identity has been revealed!
Wait are you suggesting that Rune_74 and Rossanderson48 are the same person? Heresy!
It looks like a couple of them might have already taken a whack at it Surly :)
Nah, I don't agree its a 9 game, I just like getting you mouth foaming fanatics angry:)
Honestly, I was more trying to suppress guffaws while I read it... so outside of the immorality of turning in such a non-review (thus lying to his boss about work done and deceiving the buying public as to gamebreaking issues) I appreciate the inherent comedy. Then again, given your aggressive response, is it possible you were said
Wow, that Neoseeker review comes off like a sale pitch or an overly enthusiastic pamphlet. I'm glad the "reviewer" liked it, but not a single mention of the bland and gimpy magic system, ridiculously ineffectual champions, dearth of unit choices, lack of meaningful faction differences, broken combat mechanics and so on.
I'm sure professor Farnsworth has an invention for this: 1. Press some multi-colored buttons. 2. Pull the lever on the side 3. zip-pow-bang nice new game pops out on the other side. That was easy!
The downside being it'd be powered by Slurm... and you know where that comes from.
I think the reason they didnt flat out copy MoM is because they (somewhat arrogantly) were a bit obsessed with making Elemental unique and "their own thing". But when that results in gameplay that isnt even complete or even thought out when the game is released (it feels like the gameplay itself and the different features and mechanics werent even finalized until the day 0 patch), well its just pointless.. If they just straight copied
Quoting Serkon, reply 36 Speaking of the books.. each one had a theme. All books had great summons, cool damage spells, but some (nature/life) had great city and unit buffs. Sorcery was the great antimagic color, or spells/units that bypasses defenses. Death magic carried negatives to diplomacy, Life carried positives. In elemental I just grab every single spellbook, cause I don't know what kind of shards I might get. Very..boring

From the beginning, I sat there pondering choices at character creation that would impact my game, long term. Should I spend my 'picks' on 10 books of the same type of magic, thus allowing me to eventually research all 40 spells of that color? Should I dabble in several book colors, knowing full well I would not be able to research all of t
Loving it! It would not only strongly encourage equipment diversity, but strongly penalize the mantra of just throwing the biggest armor and weapons on some jerk and letting him/her go to town. At least not without a significant investment into combat speed either via tech (hopefully) or items (only if the Mr. T paradigm is fixed). This could encourage fixing the currently pretty anemic weapon/armor tech trees and perhaps lead to specific skirmisher, archer, cavalry, etc
