I would also pay for a MOM remake, but I doubt most of us here on the Elemental forums want Elemental to BE that game. No, we want something BETTER. We want to see Elemental have the depth, complexity, nice features, pretty UI, etc that have come to be expected from a game in this day and age. It stings when you see a game like MOM still delivering a more 'fun' experience. You cannot help but to compare these two sim

Packed with features? Also an emphatic yes. Lots of variability (magic, races, troops, items, etc.)? Big time. Simplistic but very satisfying tactical combat with lots of special abilities? See the pics above. Unfortunately, Elemental onl

I've only been going on what other beta testers have been saying in other communities. Up until then, I didn't get an impression the game wasn't ready for release. Or at least, that it had so many outstanding issues.I think that's really a big problem with the whole "preorder to participate in beta testing" system that Stardock uses. Let's be

I'm well aware that wisdom in the sovereign creator is called essence for the entire remainder of the game. EXCEPT for this amusingly useless item. It does *NOTHING* when used.

Sorry about the horrible pun in the subject :) I just found "Breon's Proverbs" from a level 5 goodie hut... the really curious part is that it gives +2 *WISDOM*. Mana regen? Just essence in disguise?

In a bit of an olive branch to the couple of the truly dedicated adherents of Elemental (not gonna use the 'F' word) that I've tussled with, I'd like to get some insight into what YOU consider to be some great games you've played in the past. I'm not trying to be a provocateur nor start yet another flame war. I just want to see if either (a) I'm just approaching this from the wrong direction or (2) we just have completely incompatible gaming experiences to see eye to eye on the

What this is, is your opinion. I have found it addictive,

Magic is mostly an adjunct, minor support skill in this game. No in combat nukers (unless you rely completely on auto resolved combat and use your progeny since YOUR sovereign will never be more than meh in the damage department). And honestly, it's a crime in a game where you're supposed to be on the very few people who can even use magic. Worse, it's in the TITLE.

No. At least not yet and not without a lot of work from both the hardworking team at Stardock (who have managed to push out 3 patches and 2 hotfixes since the early release) and the hopefully dedicated modding community. To wit... Magic has *NO* personality The overwhelming majority of single target spells are "does INT * shards of that type damage" and AoE ones follow the same mechanic. No cool stuff like

I've been seeing some odd things happening with 1.06 and I need to pay better attention :) I know that with an imbued champion (good ol' Janusk) and auto resolve I'm destroying fights that don't involve ranged attackers or too many that can web. If I had another "imbuee" I'd probably be night unstoppable in auto resolve since melting touch is routinely hitting for 50+ with a single shard and 14-15 INT. That said, I'm fairly sure I've seen the same spell still hit for over

For those very rightly pointing out that Master of Magic was a ungodly mess of bugs and addlepated UI at release, bearing in mind it was a HUGE risk at the time given that big name fantasy TBS games really didn't exist in any great numbers at this point. Heroes of Might and magic (the original) was 2 years off and it's predecessor King's Bounty (which I originally owned for the Apple //e) was ancient history insofar as PC gaming goes (3 years). In addition, it was a vastly more

[e digicons]k1[/e] You know you want it! This post needs to be printed on tabloid format (suck that Mother Nature!) and handed out to every single person working on development or resources for the game. It should be the mantra for how to start moving Elemental in the right direction... away from bland, confusing, inconsistent and counterintuitive to where TBS shines. UI consistency and clarity of purpose FTW!
You think it logical that a game freshly released a week ago should be similar in polish to a game which was polished over two installments, several expansions, and countless patches?
No, but I'd think that given their pretty long experience with 4x games they'd have a pretty solid handle on the base mechanics and how to mesh them together. Elemental shows none of that. Were I to come to this game knowing nothing of the history of Stardock and their long-t

Surlybob, the problem is truly that there is nearly zero innovation in this game. Lots of great high level concepts but few if any are realized. The magic system is highly derivative of it's predecessors, which in itself isn't a bad thing. Where it went wrong was not having actual variety of spells (at least up to level 10 magic research which is where I stopped out of frustration). Do we really need dozens of single target spells that have no real differences other
