One thing I'm puzzled about though - is opposing gun control conservative or liberal? Technically being in favour of people owning guns is liberal (giving more rights to people), but it's deemed a right wing (i.e. conservative/republican) view to be in favour of allowing people to own guns.
Isn't that because in U.S. politics the term liberal has diverted from it's original meaning? The traditional meaning of the word liberal is as you say les

Inspired by comments made on Island Dog's blog in his article on Obama's speech, I thought I would write a bit about how different a conservative European is from a conservative American. Sure, there are some similarities, but, at least on the issues that dominate the American election, the differences seem to outnumber the similarities. 1. The economy The context: In Denmark, welfare is a given. If you don't have a job, you are guaranteed money from the government. Not much,

As a non-American, some of the finer points of U.S. internal politics are lost on me. I am sure, that if I lived in the U.S. I would rate as a liberal, allthough by Danish standards I am conservative. Weird world we live in :) I would like to ask you this ID: What is so wrong with looking out for the poor? Surely it would be possible to devise a system where you keep people existing on bare necessities, while at the same time preventing them from having to go to bed hungry? The mo

I think Firaxis have made a habit of even crediting beta testers (not in-house testers, I mean). That is probably taking it too far. But at least everyone in house workig on the project, and probably a mention of engine developers too, if they were involved in the project to any degree. Oh yeah, and when browsing the credits, I sometimes wonder why more space is devoted to crediting the people from the publisher as opposed to people from the developer. I know the publisher plays a big

#2 on that list really worries me. Not that there is such a book, or even tat it has an audience. But that it may find an audience with well-educated people truly worries me. It really doesn't sound much different to me than i.e. 9/11 conspiracy theories. As far as I can see (and I am neither liberal nor am I conservative) it only serves to dig trenches :( Morten
One problem - if he's using the newest expansion, that option is no longer there. For some reason it's been left out.
Yes it's been left out, but for me, at least it defaults to "off". Meaning that when I upgrade a ship, I have all functional components visible. Asmodean

As a casual observer, I'll say that the teasers look great :) But no anti-aliasing and no transparency is a bummer. Still, I guess, I wish them luck

Has Hyperdesk even been released yet? I mean at the time of Brad's post here, they were supposed to have been days away from release :) What a dork company

Well all this has been known for years, Brad - and I still like the fact that you are what you are :) Stardock and indeed the world would be a poorer place without you. What I don't get is how you get it all done: 1. AI coding 2. Managing Stardock 3. Representing Stardock towards associates, business partners etc. 4. Spending time with your family 5. Playing with the toys you mentioned 6. And on top of all that engaging in tons of discussions o

Congrats guys...allthough I am sure you didn't really doubt that this expansion would get great reviews, it is always nice when they do start coming in :) Again: Congratulations to Stardock :) Morten

1) Make an it optional how many crystals it will take to get an ascension victory. I have actually started playing with Ascension victory off, for fear that my game will end too soon. Allow us to choose between 1000, 2000 and 5000. 2) I happen to love events, even the mega ones, allthough some of them are quite tough. Another thing I would like to see is a setting that would allow me to increase the number of events in a game. This could be ranging from none (no events in the game at a

I like the fact that espionage is part of the plan. So much coulb be done wth that, and the current solution, while good, is not perfect. I will be following developments closely :) Morten

Well the power ranking has always been like that. It places waaaaay to much emphasis on military might. Who cares to have expensive ships that take up maintenance, when there is no credible threat to deal with. For me it suffices to know that I have the production apparatus to quickly crank out a powerful stellar navy and instantly become the biggest baddest boy on the block :) But for some reason, the power ranking thingy doesn't take that into consideration.
Btw: I think it's a bug but you do not want to disable this feature since it builds better ships than user can.Probably minimalization tech(s) not taken into account.
Surely, you don't mean that, Lord Kiron. The autodesigned ships are all horribly slow, thus making them in effect useless (at least to my playing style) I don't really care how they look, but the fact alone that they are designed with no engines, makes the whole feature kinda moot. I might
